South Korean conglomerate Samsung has plans to expand its footprint in Vietnam following the notable success of its electronics business, head of the company’s Vietnamese unit said Wednesday.

Hand, foot and mouth disease spirals in Ho Chi Minh City

Hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD), a contagious viral illness, is surging in Ho Chi Minh City, with the number of hospitalized patients in a recent week being over 30 percent higher than the average of the four preceding weeks, according to health authorities.
A total of 4,559 people, most of whom are children, were hospitalized in Ho Chi Minh City from early this year to September 4 for treatment for HFMD, which means 100-150 cases per week, the municipal Preventive Health Center said. In 2001, Goldman Sachs analyst Jim O’Neill captured the trend by coining the soon-to-be-famous acronym BRIC, referring to the leading economically emerging nations—Brazil, Russia, India, and China—that would constitute that new leadership. Eventually, South Africa was added to the group, making them the BRICS, but many people still think first of the original four, and refer to them as the BRICs. Vietnam scores low in budget transparency survey

The Vietnamese government does not make much information on the national coffers available to the public, while the country’s legislature and auditor have adequate oversight of the budget use, a survey reveals.

(TBKTSG) – Kiến thiết một nền giáo dục đại học thực thụ và tạo sinh khí cho nó là điều kiện tiên quyết để đưa nước ta trở nên giàu mạnh và văn minh. Không thể có một nền đại học thực thụ nếu không có tự do học thuật.
Tuy có hơn 300 trường đại học nhưng nước ta vẫn chưa có một nền đại học thực thụ. Do vậy không đáng ngạc nhiên khi các trường đại học của ta lạc hậu ngay cả với các trường đại học trong khu vực Đông Nam Á. Với một đất nước hơn 90 triệu dân, lại đang ở cuối thời kỳ dân số vàng, đây là một cơ hội bị bỏ lỡ, đồng thời là một bất lợi to lớn khi hội nhập và cạnh tranh toàn cầu. Đồng hóa dân tộc (national assimilation) gồm: 1- Đồng hóa tự nhiên, tức quá trình dân tộc A trong giao tiếp với dân tộc B, do chịu ảnh hưởng lâu dài của B mà A tự nhiên dần dần mất bản sắc của mình, cuối cùng bị B đồng hóa; đây là một xu hướng tự nhiên trong tiến trình lịch sử loài người. 2- Đồng hóa cưỡng chế: sự cưỡng bức một dân tộc nhỏ yếu hơn chấp nhận ngôn ngữ, chữ viết, phong tục, tập quán của một dân tộc lớn mạnh hơn; đây là một tội ác.
Đồng hóa dân tộc chủ yếu diễn ra dưới hình thức đồng hóa văn hóa, trong đó chủ thể đồng hóa thường là một nền văn hóa mạnh và tiên tiến (như đông dân hơn, kinh tế phát triển hơn, đã có chữ viết, có các hệ tư tưởng), đối tượng đồng hóa thường là nền văn hóa yếu và lạc hậu hơn. Đồng hóa ngôn ngữ là công cụ đồng hóa văn hóa thông dụng nhất, quan trọng nhất, hiệu quả nhất. Một dân tộc bị mất tiếng nói mẹ đẻ của mình và phải nói tiếng của một dân tộc khác thì không còn giữ được bản sắc dân tộc nữa.
