A festival will be organized in Ho Chi Minh City this week to promote special cultural characteristics, mutual understanding, and cooperation among different countries, the organizer said Monday in a press conference.
The “Ho Chi Minh City: Development and Integration 2015” fest will be held from September 10 to 13 at Section A of the 23/9 Park in District 1.
It is expected to be attended by representatives from diplomatic agencies, international organizations, foreign-invested businesses, foreign tourists, and overseas students.
According to Doan Tuan Linh, deputy director of the municipal Department of External Relations, the event will be a great opportunity which benefits both foreign communities and local residents.
The fest was held for the first time in 2013, attracting over 500,000 visits.
This year, it will include a wide range of activities such as a photo exhibition to mark the 20th anniversary of Vietnam’s entry into the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and a series of self-introduction performances of participating countries.
There will be several areas dedicated to introducing the city’s achievements in cultural, economic and external relations; Vietnam’s traditional handicraft, music and games; and the beauty of the Mekong Delta landscape.
The opening ceremony will take place at 6:00 pm on September 10. The closing ceremony is scheduled for 8:30 pm on September 13.
Visitors can join the event from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm every day, when they can enjoy music and water puppet performances, as well as martial arts, circus, and magic shows.
