Hải chiến Hoàng Sa là trận đánh mà cán cân lực lượng và trang bị nghiêng hẳn về phía VNCH nhưng rốt cuộc chỉ vì thiếu ý chí quyết chiến và thiếu tính đoàn kết chiến đấu nên các tàu to lớn của VNCH đã bị các tàu nhỏ hơn của Trung Quốc đánh bại.
