  Giả định rằng Chính phủ quyết tâm trả lại cho Khu bảo tồn thiên nhiên những gì vốn là của nó theo ranh giới được xác lập đầu tiên thì những dự án lấn chiếm Sơn Trà sẽ được xử lý như thế nào ? Đó là vấn đề nan giải không chỉ đối với chính quyền TP. Đà Nẵng mà cả đối với Chính phủ.

Scientists use bacteria to speed up growth of ginseng roots

VietNamNet Bridge – The scientists from the HCM Biotechnology Center have succeeded in using Agrobacterium rhizogenes bacteria to create hairy roots of Ngoc Linh ginseng (Panax vietnamensis Ha et Grushv) which contains active saponin.

According to Dr Duong Hoa Xo, director of the center, it takes five to seven years to grow Ngoc Linh ginseng, while the yield is low and the plant is only suitable to soil conditions in Ngoc Linh mountainous area.

Therefore, the success of the research has an important significance as it helps multiply ginseng roots more quickly and provide materials to produce saponin as alternatives for natural products.

A seafood company has been discovered backfilling some 5.3 hectares of sea along the coast of Kien Giang Province, in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta, for a construction without any consent from local authorities.

How many red-shanked doucs are left on Vietnam’s Son Tra peninsula?

While a recent independent study claimed that there are still over 1,300 red-shank doucs on central Vietnam’s Son Tra peninsula, primate experts believe the number to be much lower.

Red-shanked doucs are monkey-sized primates characterized by their golden face, black hands and feet, and maroon-red ‘stockings’ from their knees to their ankles.

QUẢNG TRỊ — The first wind power plant in the central province of Quảng Trị has begun contributing electricity to the national power grid, a positive sign for the future of green energy development.This is the first wind power plant in the northern part of the central region of Việt Nam.

Zinc deficiency rampant in VN women, children

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese people are zinc deficient at an alarming rate, especially pregnant women and young children.

The information was announced on Monday at a symposium to welcome Việt Nam Micronutrient Day (June 1-2).

A survey conducted in 2015 showed that nearly 70 per cent of children under five suffer from zinc deficiency. Children from mountainous areas are most affected, at 80.8 per cent.
