A group of the world’s leading thinkers on climate change have issued an urgent call for the world to reach peak greenhouse gas emissions by 2020, as global leaders prepare for a gathering in Germany next month.

The group, led by former United Nations climate chief and Paris Agreement architect Christiana Figueres, warns in a piece published in the journal Nature that the planet could face unsafe — and irreversible – levels of temperature increases if greenhouse gas emissions do not begin to fall by 2020. The piece calls on energy policymakers to implement policies to move the world to 30% renewable energy by 2020 and stop approving new coal-fired power plants, among other initiatives.

The United States plans to sell Taiwan $1.42bn in arms, the first such sale under the administration of President Donald Trump and a move sure to anger China, whose help the president has been seeking to rein in North Korea.

Chủ tịch QH: Nhiều thông tin xuyên tạc, chống phá Đảng, Nhà nước

 – Chủ tịch QH cho biết có nhiều thông tin phản động nhằm xuyên tạc, chống phá chủ trương, chính sách của Đảng và Nhà nước và bôi nhọ lãnh đạo Trung ương, địa phương.

Hôm nay, Chủ tịch QH Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân và đoàn ĐBQH TP Cần Thơ tiếp xúc với cử tri huyện Thới Lai và quận Ninh Kiều.

Trả lời cử tri về vấn đề thông tin độc hại trên mạng, Chủ tịch QH cho biết, đây là một thực trạng không riêng ở Việt Nam mà nhiều nước trên thế giới cũng có phương án để chống thông tin thất thiệt.
