With a wave of investments in developing luxury tourism property projects, Phu Quoc Island is transforming rapidly and expected to soon become a popular tourist hub of Viet Nam.

Twenty years ago, climate change was believed by many in Beijing to be a conspiracy cooked up by the western world to contain China’s development.

Since then, China has performed an about-turn, not only recognising climate change as a major global challenge but also, ahead of Davos this week, vowing to lead the world’s effort in combating it.

The election of Donald Trump, who, labelling climate change a “hoax” created by China, has reversed the conspiracy, casts a dark shadow on the prospect of future international climate cooperation. Dự án xây dựng khu nghỉ dưỡng của Cty Cổ phần Biển Tiên Sa – nơi có 25 cá thể Vooc đang sinh sống.

Có người bảo Đà Nẵng có ba nơi nhạy cảm. Một là bờ biển thì coi như đã “xong”. Hai là bờ sông Hàn hiện cũng đã “hòm hòm”. Điểm còn lại là Sơn Trà, hiện đang “dậy sóng” bởi dự án xây dựng khu nghỉ dưỡng của Cty Cổ phần Biển Tiên Sa cùng với “quy hoạch tổng thể phát triển du lịch quốc gia Sơn Trà, TP. Đà Nẵng đến năm 2025, định hướng đến năm 2030”. Nếu đề án này thành hiện thực, Sơn Trà sẽ “nát như tương” và những đàn voọc chà vá chân nâu – biểu tượng của Đà Nẵng tại APEC 2017 tới đây sẽ không còn đất sống.

DT Bộ Ngoại giao hôm nay đã nêu rõ phản ứng của Việt Nam trước việc Mỹ vừa trao giải thưởng “Phụ nữ quốc tế dũng cảm” cho bà Nguyễn Ngọc Như Quỳnh – người được biết đến nhiều với biệt danh là Mẹ Nấm.

Trả lời câu hỏi của phóng viên về đề nghị cho biết phản ứng của Việt Nam trước việc này, Người Phát ngôn Bộ Ngoại giao Lê Hải Bình nêu rõ: “Chính sách nhất quán của Việt Nam là luôn luôn bảo vệ và thúc đẩy quyền cơ bản của người dân, trong đó có quyền của phụ nữ. Các nỗ lực và thành tựu của Việt Nam trong việc không ngừng đảm bảo và cải thiện quyền con người trong thời gian qua đã được cộng đồng quốc tế ghi nhận và đánh giá cao”.

Vietnam labels Taiwan drills on disputed island ‘serious violation’

HANOI: Vietnam on Thursday denounced Taiwan’s military drills on and around a disputed South China Sea island, labelling them a serious violation of its sovereignty and a threat to maritime security.

China claims most of the energy-rich waters through which about US$5 trillion in ship-borne trade passes every year. Neighbours Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam also have claims.

Taiwan’s claim to Itu Aba is complicated by the fact that China considers Taiwan sovereign territory. Taiwan and China both claim the South China Sea using old maps that date back to the late 1940s when the Nationalists ruled China. UPDATE 1-Companies to invest $3.3 billion in solar projects in Vietnam’s Daklak province

Reuters_Vietnam’s Daklak province on Saturday granted licences and signed memorandums of understanding for the development of several solar power projects worth a combined $3.3 billion.

Vietnam has been mostly reliant on coal-fired and hydro power plants to accommodate its annual electricity demand growth of around 11 percent, but wants to boost its renewable energy output amid rising resources scarcity and environmental issues.

U.S. group AES Corporation signed an memorandum of understanding with the province to invest $750 million in a solar plant with expected capacity of 300-500 megawatts.

Vietnamese private firm Xuan Thien Daklak on Saturday received a provincial government licence to invest $2.2 billion in a 2,000-megawatt solar power project in Daklak province in the Central Highlands.

South Korea’s Solar Park Global also received a certificate to invest $45 million in a solar power project and Vietnamese Long Thanh Infrastructure Development and Investment Company will invest $308 million in a 250-megawatt solar plant.

Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam are seeking to secure sources of solar energy and have introduced targets to fire up green energy generation as global agreements to curb pollution take effect. (Reporting by Mai Nguyen; Editing by Sam Holmes)
