I think most people are aware of the horrors that happened during the Vietnam war.
But it’s seldom talked about.
Agent Orange was used to kill the jungle, with no attention paid to the effects of people who were soaked in it.
The Kent State massacre is seldom talked about, and when it is, people on both sides try to minimize their responsibility.
The US dropped 7.5 million tons of bombs, only 1 million tons were dropped on North Vietnam. 400,000 tons of napalm was also dropped.
350 million cluster bombs were dropped on Laos, and the US wasn’t at war with Cambodia or Laos.
My Lai massacre , 504 unarmed civilians, many of them women and children, were slaughtered by US soldiers.
It would have been many more, if a helicopter crew hadn’t intervened. We have no idea how often this might have happened.
Phan Kim Phuc picture, of a 9 year old girl, running, crying down the street, after being caught in a napalm attack.
There were 900 fragging incidents, where 86 americans were killed and 700 were wounded, by grenades thrown at their own officers. Grenades were collected after combat to stop this.
The US pulled out of Vietnam and left their allies to die.
