Besides the better known ubiquitous stir fried rice, the chicken rice of Hoi An Town and the rice cooked with coconut typical of the south, com lam is a feature of traditional festivals of several ethnic groups. These include the Tay, Dao, Muong, Nung, Thai in some northern mountain provinces like Cao Bang, Son La, Yen Bai, Lao Cai and Hoa Binh, as well as in the Central Highlands provinces.
There is no official document indicating the origin of this dish. But based on its name, it is said to have originated in the Thai ethnic community of Viet Nam. In the Thai language, lam means “grill”, indicating the cooking method. While lam in the Viet language means “green blue”, a reference to the colour of the bamboo tube covering the dish.
It is said the ethnic people who lived in remote mountainous areas often went to the forest to gather wood for cooking or building houses. These long-distance trips could take several days, and the men would bring along rice, salt and a knife as basic necessities. Nhưng với vụ mạo danh tranh của tôi thì thực sự là một cơ hội trong muôn một. Dĩ nhiên đấu tranh với tranh giả luôn là một vấn đề cực khó không chỉ với VN, mà còn cả trên thế giới. Cơ hội bắt được tận tay, day tận mặt, có nhân chứng, vật chứng, đầy đủ cơ sở để có thể kêu gọi các cơ quan có chức năng, có thẩm quyền vào giải quyết. Hội đồng nghệ thuật đã có những thẩm định như thế, kết luận như thế, tôi cũng đã sẵn sàng đứng ra để làm việc đó. Nhưng rốt cuộc tất cả cơ quan chức năng đều không ai chịu vào cuộc, đánh mất đi một cơ hội có đầy đủ đầu dây mối rợ để lần ra được một đường dây lớn về làm giả và tiêu thụ tranh Việt giả. |

Phi said that being born in Long Hai District, he wanted to capture the life of local people. The photos were taken at Long Dien District’s Long Hai fishing port and Dat Do District’s Phuoc Hai Beach.
Long Hai is a coastal town in Long Dien District. Apart from tourism services and salt production, Long Hai is a major supplier of seafood for southeastern provinces.
Spending some time at Long Hai fishing port in the early morning, visitors can see its bustling atmosphere as fishermen and vendors gather to trade freshly caught fish. Fishing is a major source of revenue for Long Hai residents.

Nam Dinh preserved cultural heritage including typically over 100 traditional festivals held every year. Many unique and great festivals attract tourists such as Phu Day Festivals (national intangible and cultural heritage), the seal opening ceremony at the Tran temple, Vieng fairs, etc.

People in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam are busy fishing when the flooding season has come.
On the fields of An Giang Province’s Phu Hoi Commune, nets have been laid to catch fish, crabs and snakes.
Huynh Van Tai, a local resident who has much experience in fishing during the flooding season, said that this year the flooding arrived earlier than expected so many people had not yet prepared for the work.
Bui Thi Suong in Dong Thap Province’s Hong Ngu District said that earlier, his family earned bigger income from fishing on the flooding season. She even hired dozens of workers for the work. However, in recent years, the seafood source has much decreased.
These days, she and her husband are taking advantages of the flooding season to catch some fish for sales in the market.
