Nhiếp ảnh gia người Thụy Điển Philip Jones Griffiths (1936 –2008) được cả thế giới biết đến với nhứng bức ảnh kinh điển về cuộc chiến tranh ở Việt Nam. Nhưng không phải ai cũng biết đến một loạt ảnh đặc sắc được ông thực hiện ở Việt Nam năm 1980, 5 năm sau khi cuộc chiến chấm dứt. Sau đây là những hình ảnh của ông được đăng tải trên trang Magnum Photos.
Trong chiến tranh, do điều kiện y tế thiếu thốn nên cắt bỏ chi là một biện pháp được thực hiện phổ biến với những người lính bị thương. Gunduz Aghayev, 34, of Azerbaijan, re-creates iconic photographs of children suffering in world conflicts, such as ‘Napalm Girl’ from the Vietnam War and a famous picture of child brides in Afghanistan, turning the devastating images into cartoons of the kids playing innocently and laughing.
The illustrator takes the horrific 1972 photo of a nine-year-old girl crying and running through the streets of Trang Bang, Vietnam, after she was severely burned by a napalm attack, and turns the image into a joyful cartoon which sees the girl holding a Statue of Liberty balloon with a smile on her face.

Hôm rồi mình tình cờ ngồi ăn trưa tán chuyện với một anh bạn người Tây Phương. Anh này là con lai Việt, sinh ra ở châu Âu từ những năm 1960s, gia đình anh không còn ai ở VN. Một vài năm anh lại về VN chơi vì rất thương VN. Nói vài chuyện bâng quơ không hiểu thế nào lại nói về chủ nghĩa cộng sản. Mình hỏi “Anh cảm thấy sao, làm việc với những người cộng sản VN”.
Anh nói tỉnh bơ, cộng sản thì làm sao – so what? “Mày có biết là tao sống như cộng sản không, tức là có cái gì, tao cũng chia sẻ cho mọi người. Tao là cộng sản thực, những người cộng sản hiện nay, chẳng vị nào hiểu sống đời cộng sản là cái gì”
Mình cười nói, “Anh nói đúng rồi, đồng ý”. Rồi câu chuyện đơn giản dừng lại ở đó, bọn mình hi5 vỗ tay nhau và đứng dậy đi làm việc tiếp.

A shortlist of the most breathtaking photos of Vietnam as seen from above has been produced from thousands of submissions to a photography contest.
The contest, themed ‘Vietnam from Above’, called on local photographers to submit their best drone photos of Vietnam for an upcoming calendar collection.

Between 1095 and 1291, Christians from western Europe launched a series of eight major invasions against the Middle East. These attacks, called the Crusades, were aimed at “liberating” the Holy Land and Jerusalem from Muslim rule.
The Crusades were sparked by religious fervor in Europe, by exhortations from various Popes, and by the need to rid Europe of excess warriors left over from regional wars.
