The top universities in the Asia-Pacific region according to data from Times Higher Education

Times Higher Education has launched its first Asia-Pacific University Ranking 2017 to reflect the region’s growing strength in the higher education sector.

THE’s Asia-Pacific University Ranking 2017 analysed universities across 38 nations in East Asia, Southeast Asia and Oceania. The overall ranking features just over 200 universities from 13 different nations.

The ranking uses the same performance indicators as the THE World University Rankings 2016-17, however the weightings were adjusted to reflect the younger profile of some of the universities in the region. The full methodology can be found here.

Japan is the most-represented nation with 69 universities featured. China is in second place with 52 universities. Other countries with a strong presence in the ranking are Australia (35 universities), Taiwan (26), South Korea (25) and Thailand (nine). The Vietnam National Museum of History is organising an exhibition showcasing more than 100 lacquered and gilded wooden artifacts, selected from its collection of woodworks that have been studied, collected and preserved for many years by the museum.

Crimson and gilded wooden treasures are not only historical stories, but also artworks expressing the aesthetic thought and talent of artisans, containing ideals from history, art, customs, religion and beliefs of Vietnamese people. Vinamilk named Vietnam’s most valuable firm

Dairy giant Vinamilk has been named the most valuable company in Vietnam for the second year in a row by Forbes Vietnam.

Forbes Vietnam and Viet Capital Securities Company on Monday announced their list of the 40 most valuable firms in Vietnam, which were collectively valued at over US$5.4 billion, an increase of 20 percent on last year.
