I am an attorney in the Washington DC area, with a Doctor of Law in the US, attended the master program at the National School of Administration of Việt Nam, and graduated from Sài Gòn University Law School. I aso studied philosophy at the School of Letters in Sài Gòn. . I have worked as an anti-trust attorney for Federal Trade Commission and a litigator for a fortune-100 telecom company in Washington DC. I have taught law courses for legal professionals in Việt Nam and still counsel VN government agencies on legal matters. I have founded and managed businesses for me and my family, both law and non-law. I have published many articles on national newspapers and radio stations in Việt Nam. In 1989 I was one of the founding members of US-VN Trade Council, working to re-establish US-VN relationship. Since the early 90's, I have established and managed VNFORUM and VNBIZ forum on VN-related matters; these forums are the subject of a PhD thesis by Dr. Caroline Valverde at UC-Berkeley and her book Transnationalizing Viet Nam. I translate poetry and my translation of "A Request at Đồng Lộc Cemetery" is now engraved on a stone memorial at Đồng Lộc National Shrine in VN. I study and teach the Bible and Buddhism. In 2009 I founded and still manage dotchuoinon.com on positive thinking and two other blogs on Buddhism. In 2015 a group of friends and I founded website CVD - Conversations on Vietnam Development (cvdvn.net). I study the art of leadership with many friends who are religious, business and government leaders from many countries. I have written these books, published by Phu Nu Publishing House in Hanoi: "Positive Thinking to Change Your Life", in Vietnamese (TƯ DUY TÍCH CỰC Thay Đổi Cuộc Sống) (Oct. 2011) "10 Core Values for Success" (10 Giá trị cốt lõi của thành công) (Dec. 2013) "Live a Life Worth Living" (Sống Một Cuộc Đời Đáng Sống) (Oct. 2023) I practice Jiu Jitsu and Tai Chi for health, and play guitar as a hobby, usually accompanying my wife Trần Lê Túy Phượng, aka singer Linh Phượng.

(Tin tức thời sự) – Các nhà khoa học có kinh nghiệm từ Đức, Mỹ, Israel đã đến Việt Nam phối hợp cùng Bộ TN&MT tìm nguyên nhân cá chết dọc biển miền Trung.

Ngày 2/5, tại trụ sở Bộ TN&MT, Bộ trưởng Trần Hồng Hà và Thứ trưởng Nguyễn Linh Ngọc đã tiếp và làm việc với các nhà khoa học trên và các nhà khoa học trong nước.

Đây là những người có kinh nghiệm trong lĩnh vực hải dương học, địa chất ven biển, kỹ thuật bờ biển và môi trường bền vững.

Sau khi nghe thông báo ngắn gọn tình hình sự cố hải sản chết bất thường tại bốn tỉnh miền trung, các chuyên gia quốc tế khẳng định sự quan tâm và sẵn sàng giúp đỡ Việt Nam trong việc điều tra, xác định nguyên nhân.

Rare rallies in Vietnam over mysterious mass fish deaths

    TĐH: Thông tin về hai cuộc tuần hành ở HCM City ngày 30/4/2016 và Hà Nội ngày 1/5/2016 không có trên báo chí trong nước, nên mình đành phải lấy từ các nguồn tin bên ngoài.

    Sau bản tin tếng Anh là 2 video clips của truyền hình SBTN ở Mỹ. Các bạn cần lưu ý là công ty TV này không thân thiện với nhà nước VN, nên lời lẽ và phân tích có thể không trung lập. Hai người phát ngôn chính thức trên hai clips này là hai linh mục DCCT.

    Về việc tôm cá chết hằng loạt, chúng ta cần chờ điều tra của các khoa học gia, nhưng mình đã có sưu tầm thông tin cho mình và đã tạm kết luận El Nino làm nước biển ở miền Trung nóng lên, là thủ phạm chính. Các nguồn pollution, nếu có ảnh hưởng đến tôm cá ở biển, là thủ phạm phụ.

    Dù kết quả cuối cùng cho biết thế nào, chúng ta cần đợi các khoa học gia xác định.

When Post Media Ltd CEO Chris Dawe first landed in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in the late 1980s, the business landscape was barren and there wasn’t much infrastructure for taking care of visitors.

“I vividly remember stepping off the plane and walking into a tin shed where my suitcase was delivered on the back of a truck and from there it was placed in a pile which I then had to find as everybody together scrambled to find theirs, no trolleys – total confusion,” Dawe said.

“Finally after escaping customs, there were no taxis no anything just thousands of locals surrounding me and offering me everything from foodstuffs to women. Illicit Financial Flows from Developing Countries: 2004-2013

This December 2015 report from Global Financial Integrity, “Illicit Financial Flows from Developing Countries: 2004-2013,” finds that developing and emerging economies lost US$7.8 trillion in illicit financial flows from 2004 through 2013, with illicit outflows increasing at an average rate of 6.5 percent per year—nearly twice as fast as global GDP.

This study is GFI’s 2015 annual global update on illicit financial flows from developing economies, and it is the sixth annual update of GFI’s groundbreaking 2008 report, “Illicit Financial Flows from Developing Countries 2002-2006.” This is the first report to include estimates of illicit financial flows from developing countries in 2013—which the study pegs at US$1.1 trillion.

East China Sea Tensions: Approaching a Slow Boil

 

Mounting tensions over the disputed Senkaku Islands have been a constant in Sino-Japanese relations since Tokyo purchased three of the five islands in 2012. For the last four years, Chinese coast guard vessels have regularly patrolled in the vicinity of the East China Sea islands and have often entered within the 12-nautical-mile territorial sea around the Senkakus, engaging in a cat-and-mouse game with their Japanese counterparts tasked with maintaining Tokyo’s control over the features. Meanwhile, People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) patrols around the Senkakus and Japan’s southern islands have led to regular scrambles by the Japanese Air Self Defense Force. Hai nông dân được hỗ trợ áp dụng các Phương pháp Chăn nuôi Tốt trong dự án Năng lực Cạnh tranh Ngành Chăn nuôi và An toàn Thực phẩm

Từ năm 2010 đến năm 2015 Dự án Năng lực Cạnh tranh Ngành Chăn nuôi và An toàn Thực phẩm đã thực hiện áp dụng các Phương pháp Chăn nuôi Tốt (GAHP) cho các hộ sản xuất chăn nuôi nhỏ. Dự án đã giúp tăng cường an ninh sinh học, nâng cấp các lò giết mổ nhỏ và tăng cường vệ sinh tại các khu chợ ẩm thấp, qua đó góp phần đáng kể vào hiệu quả sản xuất, nâng cao năng lực cạnh tranh và an toàn thực phẩm trong chuỗi giá trị chăn nuôi lợn và gà.

ASEAN should choose CUES for the South China Sea

Recent developments in the South China Sea are a serious cause for concern for Southeast Asian states, which have a huge interest in ensuring the safety and security of these waters given their importance for international shipping. Ongoing militarisation in the disputed waters increases the risks of unintended military confrontations, threatening regional stability.
