Subsidence causes road leading to Ho Chi Minh City to be wavy

Serious subsidence has caused a major route leading to the east entrance of Ho Chi Minh City to become ‘wavy,’ endangering vehicles traveling on the road.

A section of Hanoi Highway, which connects District 9 in Ho Chi Minh City with neighboring provinces to the east of the city, has had its surface heavily distorted by severe subsidence.

As a large amount of traffic flows on the highway on a daily basis, its surface has become wave-like, with the gaps measuring about 10 to 20 centimeters deep, causing immense challenges for vehicles.

Commuters have to travel at a snail’s pace in order to avoid potential accidents. Tiếp tục đọc “Subsidence causes road leading to Ho Chi Minh City to be wavy”

HÀ NỘI – Leaders of six provinces on Tuesday sat down with relevant ministers to talk about the construction of a coastal highway route, the detailed plan for which was approved back in 2010.

The 550-kilometre highway will traverse the northern port city of Hải Phòng, Quảng Ninh, Thái Bình, Nam Định, Ninh Bình and Thanh Hóa provinces.

Minister of Planning and Investment, Nguyễn Chí Dũng, said that without such a route, the six cities won’t be able to connect, wasting potential development opportunities.

Dũng said the ministry had received investment plans from all six provinces, but each differs on the scale, direction, mechanism and resources for the route. Meanwhile, it was necessary to unify the direction, scale and importance of connecting with each other to promote effectiveness, he said. Tiếp tục đọc “Provinces agree on coastal road”
