Residents of Ho Chi Minh City may be able to operate their businesses on local sidewalks for a fee, as part of a new proposal.
The municipal Department of Transport is gathering feedback from local experts and citizens on a proposal to rent the city’s sidewalks.

Viet Nam News HCM CITY — Fulbright University Việt Nam (FUV) has received two grants worth US$15.5 million from the US Government.
A $7.2 million grant from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will support admissions and student recruitment policies and help establish financial aid and scholarship procedures for bachelor degree programmes.
The US State Department’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs will provide $8.3 million to support bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes.
FUV recently got its operating licence and is preparing for its firstmaster’s course in autumn this year, Đàm Bích Thủy, its president, said.
The first undergraduate class will begin a year later.
Thủy announced the launch of an English language summer programme.
Fulbright Everest Launchpad will select 40 high school students for an eight-week course fully funded by FUV.
For the first four weeks all participants will study in a campus in HCM City before learning at home with online personal tutors. — VNS
