HÀ NỘI — The first cargo train on the 854-km route connecting Việt Nam and southwest China departed from China’s Kunming City for Hải Phòng Port on Tuesday afternoon.
The Jinlai Shunfa international logistics company, which is operating the route, said the train, carrying 32 containers of raw materials for the chemical industry, would reach Việt Nam within four to six days.
Currently, the train is being operated on a weekly basis, but its frequency is expected to increase to daily once the demand and supply of goods between the countries rise.
The train is run along the Kunming-Hải Phòng Transport Corridor that was constructed under a co-operation programme between six countries in the Greater Mekong Sub-region, with partial financial support from the Asian Development Bank. — VNS

Supporters of the Paris Agreement have expressed considerable angst over President Donald Trump’s decision to leave the climate agreement last week.
Regardless of the merits of that decision—although for the record, Heritage Foundation analysts recommended that the U.S. withdraw—Trump should not have had to make that call.
The Paris Agreement had all the hallmarks of a treaty and should have been submitted by President Barack Obama to the Senate for advice and consent, as required under Article II of the U.S. Constitution.
