TTCT – Những bất ổn ở khu vực đông Địa Trung Hải, trải rộng khắp Bắc Phi, Trung Đông và Trung Á, thời gian qua gần như luôn có sự góp mặt của một nhân tố “thường trực”: Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ.
Ngày 14-8-2020, tàu thăm dò dầu khí Oruc Reis của Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ được ba chiến hạm hộ tống tiến vào phía một khu vực tranh chấp giữa Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ và Hi Lạp tại phía đông Địa Trung Hải. Chiến hạm Limnos của Hi Lạp đi theo sát để canh chừng lúc đó đâm đầu vào đuôi chiến hạm Kemal Reis của Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ. Phía Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ lên gồng, hăm dọa sẵn sàng phản ứng bằng vũ lực. Phía hải quân Hi Lạp xuống giọng, đây chỉ là tai nạn lưu thông, lỡ đụng vào mông. Chuyện là, cả hai quốc gia này đều là thành viên của khối quân sự NATO (đồng minh Bắc Đại Tây Dương của Hoa Kỳ), với Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ là đồng minh quan trọng hơn là Hi Lạp, về kích cỡ cũng như vị thế chiến lược. Nhưng Hi Lạp là thành viên Liên minh châu Âu (EU), khối mà Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ lâu nay vẫn mong gia nhập mà chưa được chấp thuận.

Theo bà Hà Thị Quỳnh Anh, Chuyên gia của Quỹ Dân số Liên hợp quốc UNFPA, báo cáo Dân số thế giới năm 2020 cho thấy, mỗi năm Việt Nam có khoảng 40.800 bé gái không được sinh.
Con số bà Quỳnh Anh đưa ra trong buổi tư vấn trực tuyến “Giảm thiểu mất cân bằng giới tính khi sinh” tại VnExpress vào ngày 6/10, được tính dựa trên sự khác biệt giữa con số ước tính trẻ em gái phải được sinh ra theo quy luật tự nhiên và số trẻ em gái thực tế được sinh ra trong một năm.
Theo ông Phạm Vũ Hoàng, Phó Tổng cục trưởng Tổng cục Dân số-Kế hoạch hóa gia đình, Bộ Y tế, tại Việt Nam, nguyên nhân cơ bản khiến tỷ lệ bé trai nhiều hơn bé gái là nền văn hóa truyền thống với tư tưởng Nho giáo đóng vai trò chủ đạo. Một trong những giá trị quan trọng của tư tưởng này là có con trai để nối dõi tông đường, thờ phụng tổ tiên, phụng dưỡng cha mẹ. Trả lời độc giả, Phó giáo sư, tiến sĩ Nguyễn Duy Ánh – Giám đốc Bệnh viện Phụ sản Hà Nội cho rằng, cả nam giới và nữ giới nên lựa chọn độ tuổi sinh con tốt nhất. The United States Trade Representative (USTR) office has blacklisted Vietnam’s well-known markets in its 2020 review, for reasons of counterfeiting goods. Dong Xuan Market in Hanoi and Ben Thanh Market in Ho Chi Minh City have been named on the USTR blacklist.

For many years now, e-commerce platforms and online shops in Vietnam have long been criticized for selling counterfeited goods and pirated brand names. An online shopper looking to buy a Rolex watch on e-commerce platform Shopee can choose from many suppliers of the world-famous Swiss brand. Prices could range from just VND 250,000 to about VND 2 mn for a watch. It has never been so simple and easy to buy products of famous brands.

Counterfeit and poor-quality goods are the biggest obstacle that customers face on online shopping platforms.
Mr. Bao, a customer in Ho Chi Minh City, wanted to buy 2XU brand jogging pants. He ordered the pants on a popular e-commerce site for VND350,000 and after receiving the product, he found out that it was fake.

Thang Long Wind, a $11.9-billion, 3.4 GW offshore plant, is being built in the central province of Binh Thuan.
Installation of floats will be completed in July to gather oceanographic data related to waves, wind and currents.
La Gan, another offshore wind farm, a joint venture between Asia Petroleum Energy Corporation (Asia Petro), Novasia Energy Company and Danish fund management firm Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), will have a capacity of 3.5 GW and cost $10.5 billion.

GS Ngọc Phượng cho hay, theo báo cáo của Vụ Sức khỏe Bà mẹ – Trẻ em, Bộ Y Tế, tại Việt Nam, mỗi năm cả nước có khoảng 250.000 – 300.000 ca phá thai được báo cáo chính thức. Trong đó, tổ chức Y tế thế giới (WHO) xếp Việt Nam vào danh sách một trong năm nước có tỷ lệ phá thai cao nhất thế giới và là nước có tỷ lệ phá thai cao nhất châu Á.

You wouldn’t know it today, but the silicon photovoltaic solar cell—the standard, black-and-copper solar panel you can find on suburban rooftops and solar farms—was born and raised in America.
The technology was invented here. In 1954, three American engineers at Bell Labs discovered that electrons flow freely through silicon wafers when they are exposed to sunlight.
It was deployed here. In 1958, the U.S. Navy bolted solar panels to Vanguard 1, the second American satellite in space.
And for a time, it was even made here. In the 1960s and ’70s, American companies dominated the global solar market and registered most solar patents. No longer confined to China’s land territory or its near abroad, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is conducting increasingly complex operations farther and farther from China’s continental borders. Within Asia, the PLA now regularly operates into the far reaches of the South China Sea and deep into the Western Pacific, enforcing China’s territorial claims and preparing to counter U.S. intervention in a regional conflict. Beyond Asia, the PLA is present on the ground, at sea, or in military exercises with foreign partners across the Indian Ocean and into the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. Foreign militaries now regularly encounter the PLA, whether in tense incidents or friendly contacts, on their home turf and in the global commons.
Drawn from a 2019 conference jointly organized by NDU, the RAND Corporation, and Taiwan’s Council on Advanced Policy Studies, The PLA Beyond Borders surveys the dimensions of Chinese operations within the Indo-Pacific region and globally. The international contributors look both at the underlying enablers of these activities, including expeditionary capabilities and logistics, command and control, and ISR systems, as well as new and evolving operational concepts and operational patterns. Employing different analytic lenses, they portray a reformed PLA accelerating the pace of its overseas operations and increasing its modernization not only in the traditional domains, but also in space and cyber.
