Đại diện Cục Hải quan Đà Nẵng cho biết: Nếu cho lưu hành những cuốn sách này sẽ tạo ra nhận thức sai lệch về lịch sử cuộc chiến chống xâm lược của nhân dân Việt Nam, cũng như các vấn đề dân chủ, nhân quyền của Nhà nước Việt Nam hiện nay.

Cụ thể: Tại Bưu điện TP Đà Nẵng, Đội Kiểm tra bưu phẩm bưu kiện xuất nhập khẩu thuộc Chi cục Hải quan cửa khẩu Sân bay quốc tế Đà Nẵng (Cục Hải quan Đà Nẵng) phối hợp với Trung tâm khai thác và vận chuyển (Bưu điện TP Đà Nẵng) tạm giữ, bảo quản chờ xử lý; phối hợp với lực lượng công an thành phố đã phát hiện 4 bưu kiện:

– Bưu kiện chứa 1 quyển sách tựa đề “Where the ashes are – The Odyssey of a Vietnamese Family” của tác giả Nguyễn Quý Đức, được xuất bản tại Mỹ. Bưu phẩm được gửi từ Netherlands về Việt Nam ngày 15/1/2018. Nơi gửi: P.O.BOX 7085, 3109 AA Schiedam, Netherlands. Người nhận: Phan Ngọc Thanh Bình. Địa chỉ: 36 Hoàng Văn Thụ, Quận Hải Châu, Đà Nẵng, Việt Nam.

– Bưu kiện từ người gửi Phan Hồng Anh. Địa chỉ: 01-382 Warszawa UL. Szczotkarska 37A. Người nhận: Trần Ngọc Tuấn. Địa chỉ: 100 Hồ Tùng Mậu, Quận Liên Chiểu, Phường Hòa Minh, TP Đà Nẵng, Việt Nam. Hàng hóa vi phạm là 1 quyển sách có tựa đề “Chính trị bình dân” của tác giả Phạm Đoan Trang, được xuất bản tại Mỹ.

NGHỆ AN – The People’s Court of Diễn Châu District in the central province of Nghệ An yesterday sentenced 35-year-old Hoàng Đức Bình to seven years in prison on the charge of “resisting on-duty officials” and another seven years for “abusing the rights to democracy and freedom to infringe on the interests of the State and rights and interests of organisations and citizens.”

WASHINGTON DC, Jan 25 2018 (IPS) – Indigenous Peoples and local communities are some of the best environmental stewards. Their livelihoods and cultures depend on forests, clean water and other natural resources, so they have strong incentives to sustainably manage their lands.

LandMark, the first global platform to provide maps of land held by Indigenous Peoples and local communities, last month released new carbon storage, tree cover loss, natural resource concessions, dam locations and other data layers that shed light on the environment in which these lands exist. Now anyone, anywhere can view and analyze indigenous and local communities’ environmental contributions and identify threats to specific lands. Rohingya people were still arriving here – the New Year bringing no end to the reports of violence and fears, which forced them to flee their homes in Myanmar, says the IOM on Monday.

Over 2,400 Rohingyas are estimated to have arrived in Bangladesh during December 2017, with more people continuing to arrive each day as 2018 begins, according to the UN Migration Agency.

HONG KONG — At Monument Books, a bookstore in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, the magazine racks are stacked with copies of The Economist and other titles from Britain, Australia, France and the United States.

But one top-selling magazine there was founded in Phnom Penh and takes its name — Mekong Review — from the mighty river that runs beside the city’s low-rise downtown.

Myanmar’s government has barred Ashin Wirathu, an ultranationalist Buddhist monk, from public preaching for the past year, saying his speeches helped fuel the violence against the country’s Rohingya ethnic group that the United Nations calls ethnic cleansing.

So he has turned to an even more powerful and ubiquitous platform to get his message out — Facebook.

Viet Nam News UNITED NATIONS — The United States has withdrawn from a United Nations pact to improve the handling of migrant and refugee situations, deeming it “inconsistent” with its policies.
