China is challenging the West. What is the West? It is not only nations in Europe or North America. It is countries that practice democracy.
India, Japan, South Korea, and Australia are Western nations that surround China. They worry about China’s size and ambitions. They view China with suspicion. Also, in the West, the United States and most of Europe see China as an adversary.
China is one country against the West.
United Nations: Office of Genocide Prevention and the Resposibility to Protect
The word “genocide” was first coined by Polish lawyer Raphäel Lemkin in 1944 in his book Axis Rule in Occupied Europe. It consists of the Greek prefix genos, meaning race or tribe, and the Latin suffix cide, meaning killing. Lemkin developed the term partly in response to the Nazi policies of systematic murder of Jewish people during the Holocaust, but also in response to previous instances in history of targeted actions aimed at the destruction of particular groups of people. In mid-February, a court in Holguin, Cuba, about 500 miles east of Havana, handed down sentences of up to 20 years in prison to 20 people convicted of sedition the previous month. Their crime, and that of the hundreds of others like them still awaiting verdicts elsewhere, was to have participated in widespread protests last summer, some peaceful but some violent, that took the Cuban government—and the world—by surprise.

While worker grievances about abuses and exploitation since 2015 have fallen on deaf ears with the renewal of a bilateral Vietnam-Saudi Arabia labour pact (2019-2024), a recent announcement from the official state media seems to appease recent bad publicity about labor export. It reveals an entrenched network of financial interests between recruitment companies and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Security Agency has prosecuted some officials at the Consular Department level for accepting bribes to permit recruitment companies to organise commercial flights to bring overseas workers, who pay upwards of USD $3000 for the one-way flight and quarantine costs, to return to Vietnam. It’s not a coincidence that the corruption exposé happened after waves of social media and the UN special rapporteurs’ letter about human trafficking. Still, numerous worker complaints about Department of Overseas Labour (DOLAB) officials operating in the Vietnamese Embassy in Riyadh continue to fall on deaf ears.

Vị might be one of many street kids that return to work at Blue Dragon, and one of the few that have spent more than ten years with the organisation, but his story has special significance as he has witnessed the growth of Blue Dragon even before it was established.

Born to a family of farmers in Nam Định Province, Vị and his three other siblings stayed with their mother while their father often travelled to other provinces for work.

Bộ phim nói về cuộc sống đầy gian nan, vất vả của những thực tập sinh kỹ thuật người Việt, bị bóc lột thậm tệ nên phải bỏ nơi làm việc và như vậy trở thành những người lao động bất hợp pháp. Theo cảm nhận của các thành viên ban giám khảo Festival Vesoul, “Along the sea“ “đặt khán giả đối diện với những vấn đề xã hội-kinh tế mà các nhân vật đang gặp phải, tuy gần gũi về mặt địa lý với các nước phát triển, nhưng lại sống trong những điều kiện ngược lại hoàn toàn”.

Mỗi khi phụ nữ Hàn Quốc tuần hành chống định kiến giới, hàng chục nam thanh niên sẽ xuất hiện và la ó: “Nữ quyền là bệnh tâm thần”.
Họ chủ yếu mặc đồ đen, hô vang khẩu hiệu “Bình bịch, bình bịch”, mô phỏng âm thanh mà họ nói là do “những kẻ ủng hộ nữ quyền xấu xí” tạo ra khi bước đi. “Những kẻ ghét đàn ông hãy cút đi”, họ hét lên.
Phản ứng của những thanh niên này thường bị coi là hành vi cực đoan của một nhóm thiểu số. Tuy nhiên, thực tế cho thấy tâm lý bài nữ quyền tại Hàn Quốc đang ngày càng gia tăng, ảnh hưởng đáng kể đến đời sống xã hội và chính trị, khi các nhà hoạt động nam nhắm đến bất cứ điều gì liên quan đến nữ quyền.

Việc không có giấy tờ tuỳ thân càng khiến trẻ thiệt thòi trong việc không tiếp cận được các dịch vụ công và các hỗ trợ dành cho trẻ: học việc, tạo việc làm, có nơi cư trú…

Buổi hội thảo “Chuyển đổi số và an toàn dữ liệu trong lĩnh vực y tế” do Hội Truyền thông số Việt Nam tổ chức vào ngày 18/11 cho biết rằng: trong gần 20 năm đẩy mạnh “chuyển đổi số”, số hóa các hoạt động trong lĩnh vực y tế, nhà nước chưa có quy định nào về quyền của chủ thể dữ liệu. Incumbent leaders increasingly used force to crush opponents and settle scores, sometimes in the name of public health, while beleaguered activists—lacking effective international support—faced heavy jail sentences, torture, or murder in many settings.
These withering blows marked the 15th consecutive year of decline in global freedom. The countries experiencing deterioration outnumbered those with improvements by the largest margin recorded since the negative trend began in 2006. The long democratic recession is deepening.

The UN independent rights expert on the situation of human rights in Myanmar, told the UN Human Rights Council on Wednesday that conditions inside the country following the 1 February military coup have worsened, urging a “change of course” to prevent further human rights abuses and deaths.
According to Special Rapporteur Tom Andrews, since its power grab and overthrow of the democratically-elected Government, the junta and its forces have murdered more than 1,100 people, arbitrarily detained more than 8,000, and forcibly displaced more than 230,000 civilians, bringing the total number of internally placed persons in Myanmar to well over half a million.
