Vietnam Airlines and Viejet Air hold most of the market share in Vietnam

On May 31, the FLC Group announced that they will set up Viet Bamboo Airlines with VND700bn (USD31m) in charter capital. Viet Bamboo Airlines will also invest in the real estate and other sectors. The capital is just enough to allow FLC Group to join both local and international transportation markets with 10 planes. The money will be frozen to prove the investor’s financial capacity. Korean bank pledges $233mn loan for Ho Chi Minh City airport metro

The Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) has promised to provide US$233.3 million in official development assistance (ODA) for Ho Chi Minh City to build a metro line connecting to Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

Metro line 4 b-1 will run over two kilometers from the Lang Cha Ca Intersection to Tan Son Nhat Airport in Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City.

Vietnam to develop 1,370km cross-nation expressway at $13bn

Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has selected the official proposal for a colossal project to develop an expressway that runs from north to south.

The selected proposal, prepared by the Ministry of Transport and which has been open for feedback from state agencies, aims to develop 1,372 kilometers of expressway from now to 2025, with a hefty investment of VND314.1 trillion (US$13.84 billion). Water supplier says Chinese pipes safe amidst health concern

Saigon Water Corporation (Sawaco), a major water supplier in Ho Chi Minh City, has reassured citizens that its ductile iron water pipes provided by Chinese firms pose no threat to public health.

The announcement came at the request of the municipal administration, which had earlier received a letter from a man who claimed to be Truong Van Hai, a former Sawaco official.

In his letter sent to multiple agencies in Ho Chi Minh City, Hai suggested that Chinese-made water pipes used by Sawaco were made from ductile cast iron that had been recycled from waste products, unexploded ordnance and expired weapons that could affect the water quality. Saigon submerged following torrential rain for 2nd time this week

A prolonged deluge early in the rainy season swept through Ho Chi Minh City, resulting in severe flooding in many locations on Saturday, the second time this week.

The two-hour-long downpour caused congestion and inundation in various areas in the southern Vietnamese hub.

ĐÀ NĂNG — After 18 months of construction, Đà Nẵng International Airport officially launched its new terminal at a ceremony held yesterday.

The project is a key part of preparations for the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Summit, which will be hosted in the city this November.

The new terminal, which covers an area of 21,000sq.m, with total investment of VNĐ3.5 trillion (US$155 million), offers 82 counters for check-in, check-out, migration and immigration, as well as 10 boarding gates that will accommodate six million passengers per year, and serve 1,600 passengers at peak hours. Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — Some VNĐ62 trillion (US$2.7 billion) of official development aid (ODA) is the amount proposed by the Hà Nội People’s Committee to build two new railway routes in the city.

The 6km urban railway route number 2, connecting downtown Trần Hưng Đạo Street and the Thượng Định Ward in Thanh Xuân District, is expected to cost some VNĐ35 trillion ($1.5 billion), of which $1.3 billion will be funded through aid from Japan.
