Why has flooding been so severe in China this year?

Intense rainfall and severe flooding that has battered China since early June 2020, has affected tens of millions of people and left at least 140 dead or missing. The Three Gorges Dam that spans the Yangtze River has been put to the test in terms of its ability to  control floods along Asia’s longest river. But why have floods across a large region of China been so severe in the summer of 2020?

The Curious World of Soviet Bus Stops

On a long-distance bicycle trip from London to St. Petersburg in 2002, photographer Chris Herwig encountered something unexpected in the barren post-Soviet landscapes—artsy, unusual, and almost spaceship-like bus stops. The more he rode, the more he came across such unique transit structures.

As Herwig traveled through and later began living in post-Soviet states, he would keep an eye out for unusual bus stops. Having grown up in Canada, he says that the U.S.S.R. was always a mystery to him. Something dark and inexplicable. It fascinated him to find colorful, almost celebratory structures in a land that was once so rigidly governed.

Prof. Nguyen Thanh Long, acting Minister of Health, chairing the workshop said that Vietnam has currently had 4 researchers of vaccine production, developing in varied directions but all of them owned the technology.

At the workshop, four local vaccine researchers & manufacturers (including: VABIOTECH, POLYVAC, IVAC, NANOGEN) presented their Covid-19 vaccine studies. At the same time, delegates also exchanged discussions on draft regulations for researching, clinical production, licensing of and registration for Covid-19 vaccine in Vietnam and how to use the Covid-19 vaccine in an emergency medical situation.
