Bich Thao and her husband are still trying to get a son after seven years and five in vitro fertilization attempts despite knowing sex selection is illegal.
The couple, both 34 and from the northern Vinh Phuc Province, say they have been unlucky in that all five IVF attempts failed either to faulty embryos or a faulty Y (male) chromosome.
Thao married her husband in 2010 and their first child was a girl. With her husband being the oldest son, the expectation is that she, too, will produce a male heir.

Egypt is facing a barrage of criticism over what rights groups say is a crackdown on protests and activists, as it prepares to host the COP27 climate summit starting Sunday.
Rights groups have accused the Egyptian government of arbitrarily detaining activists after Egyptian dissidents abroad called for protests to be held against President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on November 11, during the United Nations climate talks.
According to rights groups, security forces have been setting up checkpoints on Cairo streets, stopping people and searching their phones to find any content related to the planned protests.

Xinjiang’s exports to the United States dropped in September after soaring for two consecutive months, but were still nearly three times as high as the same month last year, according to the latest Chinese customs data – despite a Washington law that seeks to ban goods from the far-west region of China due to forced labour allegations.
The shipments from Xinjiang to the US have appeared to continue even as officials from the US customs agency insist that they have been effectively enforcing the Uygur Forced Labour Prevention Act, which kicked in on June 21.
Companies from the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region in September exported US$21.05 million worth of goods to the US, slashed by more than half compared with the figure for August, but more than double the tally in June, trade data showed.
The month-on-month decline of Xinjiang exports to the US was in line with the overall weakening of Chinese exports.

Cam Xuyen is one of eight districts in Vietnam whose residents cannot enter South Korea until the end of 2022.

Theo Tổng cục Dân số- Kế hoạch hóa gia đình (KHHGĐ), ước tính trong Điều tra các mục tiêu phát triển bền vững về trẻ em và phụ nữ Việt Nam 2020-2021 cho thấy, tỷ lệ phá thai cao nhất là ở phụ nữ độ tuổi từ 25- 29 tuổi (9 lần/1.000 phụ nữ), tiếp theo là nhóm từ 20- 24 tuổi (7 lần/1.000 phụ nữ), rồi đến nhóm từ 30-39 tuổi (6 lần/1.000 phụ nữ). Nhóm vị thành niên từ 15- 19 tuổi có tỷ lệ phá thai là 1 lần/1.000 phụ nữ.

Luật khám bệnh, chữa bệnh có tác động rất lớn đến hệ thống ngành y tế cũng như vấn đề chăm sóc sức khỏe của người dân, trong đó có người Dân tộc thiểu số, Mạng lưới Tiên Phong Vì Tiếng Nói Người Dân Tộc Thiểu Số đã có một buổi trao đổi cùng chuyên gia trong lĩnh vực luật khám bệnh, chữa bệnh đồng thời thảo luận nội bộ để cùng đưa ra ý kiến đối với những vấn đề vẫn còn bỏ ngỏ trong luật.
Qua quá trình thảo luận, nhóm nhận ra rằng rào cản ngôn ngữ giữa bác sĩ và bệnh nhân là người dân tộc thiểu số ở tại địa phương và đặc biệt là cơ sở khám chữa bệnh tuyến Trung Ương là một vấn đề ảnh hưởng trực tiếp đến quyền và chất lượng sử dụng dịch vụ khám chữa bệnh của người dân tộc thiểu số. The guidance aims to strengthen business capability and equip future business leaders to promote responsible business conduct and respect for human rights in Vietnam.
Tourism plays an important role in Vietnam’s economy by creating jobs, infrastructure, and market opportunities. It can also assist in fostering greater mutual understanding across cultures, regions and nations.
