Tây Nguyên giao rừng tràn lan – 4 bài

Tây Nguyên giao rừng tràn lan
Bài 1: Rừng cộng đồng bị… “cộng đồng” phá!

SGGP

Global Electric Car Sales Jump 63 %

  • China made more than half of EV purchases in the third quarter
  • Bloomberg New Energy Finance expects 1 million sold this year

Electric vehicles sales surged to a record in the third quarter, largely driven by strong demand in China.

Sales of battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids exceeded 287,000 units in the three months ended in September, 63 percent higher than the same quarter a year ago and up 23 percent from the second quarter, according to a report released Tuesday by Bloomberg New Energy Finance. China accounted for more than half of global sales as its market for electric cars doubled amid government efforts to curb pollution.

“The Chinese government is very focused on pushing up EV sales,” said Aleksandra O’Donovan, advanced transport analyst at BNEF and one of the authors of the report. “One reason for that is the local pollution levels in the cities, and a second is for China to build domestic heroes to compete internationally in this market.”

BNEF expects global EV sales to surpass 1 million units this year for the first time. The market for electrified transport is starting to pick up speed as charging infrastructure becomes more accessible and manufacturers roll out models with longer driving ranges. In 2017, many established carmakers from Jaguar Land Rover to Volvo Cars announced plans to bring electric versions of their vehicles to market in the next few years. (Katherine Frey – The Washington Post)

While the presidential race is taking up much of the oxygen this cycle, many states have important ballot initiatives on the ballot next Tuesday as well.

Maryland is considering a proposal that would allow table games at the state’s five casinos, as well as approve the creation of a sixth in Prince George’s County, near DC. The proposal is touted as a way to fund education — for which the funds it generates will be earmarked — and, ironically, the opposition to it is mainly funded by owners of rival casinos. But economic research concerning casinos suggest that members of communities with casinos should be wary. Tiếp tục đọc “Studies: Casinos bring jobs, but also crime, bankruptcy, and even suicide”

Communist Hanoi gets its first McDonald’s

AFP / HOANG DINH NAMThe global fast food chain received a warm welcome in Hanoi as hungry diners crammed into the two-storey eatery for a first taste of the Golden Arches

AFP_Global burger behemoth McDonald’s opened its first branch on Saturday in the historic heart of communist Hanoi, a conservative city renowned for its traditional — and cheap — Vietnamese staples beloved by food-obsessed locals.

Hungry customers lined up for Big Macs and Chicken McNuggets at the Vietnamese capital’s first location overlooking the tree-lined Hoan Kiem lake, which draws millions of tourists annually to see French-era colonial buildings and sample street-food favourites like pho noodle soup and banh mi sandwiches.

The restaurant is the first outside of the southern commercial hub Ho Chi Minh City, where 16 branches have opened since McDonald’s first came to Vietnam in 2014 to much fanfare, especially among the rapidly-growing middle class and American-obsessed youth.

Asia-Pacific business leaders’ confidence has hit a three-year high, while Vietnam has emerged as a popular destination for new funds among members of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), a PwC survey finds.

Thirty-seven percent of APEC CEOs are “very confident” of revenue growth during the next 12 months, up from 28 percent in 2016 despite trade policy uncertainty and related political tensions in many of the economies that make up APEC, according to findings from the APEC 2017 CEO survey. The world is facing a global sand crisis

September 7, 2017 9.22pm BST

theconversation_When people picture sand spread across idyllic beaches and endless deserts, they understandably think of it as an infinite resource. But as we discuss in a just-published perspective in the journal Science, over-exploitation of global supplies of sand is damaging the environment, endangering communities, causing shortages and promoting violent conflict.

Skyrocketing demand, combined with unfettered mining to meet it, is creating the perfect recipe for shortages. Plentiful evidence strongly suggests that sand is becoming increasingly scarce in many regions. For example, in Vietnam domestic demand for sand exceeds the country’s total reserves. If this mismatch continues, the country may run out of construction sand by 2020, according to recent statements from the country’s Ministry of Construction.
