Students seek luck before exam at Temple of Literature
Students often visit Van Mieu Quoc Tu Giam, or Temple of Literature, in the days running up to their annual exams to pray for luck.
Many students are flocking to the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university, before their high school graduation exams which are scheduled to take place from June 22 to 24.
The temple, the main Confucian school in feudal times, was built in 1070 in the time of Emperor Ly Nhan Tong. It includes various pavilions, halls, statues and steles and is still venerated as place of respect. Modern students still indulge in this tradition.

Red Dao wedding ceremony
The Red Dao ethnic community in the northern province of Lao Cai has a rich culture. Their wedding ceremony is among these cultural features.
A Dan Tri reporter recently attended the wedding ceremony of bride Tan U May and groom Tan A Hin in Pho Village, Ban Quam Commune. The event lasted for two days with most of the activities held at the groom’s family.

Nguyen dynasty treasures on display in Da Lat
A total of 36 precious artifacts, from the Nguyen dynasty period (1802-1945), are on display at an exhibition that opened recently at Lam Dong museum in Da Lat city.
The artifacts, made of gold and gemstones, include flower vases; daily utensils such as bowls and basins; objects used in royal worship and rituals; and items used in royal office, including brushes, ink stone, paperweights and pen holders.
All of the items were carefully carved with highly sophisticated decorative patterns, showing the talent of Vietnam’s craft masters.
