Situated on a plateau 1,500 metres above sea level, this retreat town offers a good change of atmosphere with a refreshingly cool climate while other cities in Vietnam can be very hot and humid especially during summer.

Da Lat is famous for its wide variety of flowers, vegetables and fruit from its surrounding farmlands as well as countless nature sites; its beautiful landscape, evergreen forests and minority villages.

Viet Nam News ĐÀ LẠT – The central highland city of Đà Lạt in Lâm Đồng Province will be Việt Nam’s representative to receive the fourth ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable City at the fifteenth ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Environment.

Nguyen dynasty treasures on display in Da Lat

A total of 36 precious artifacts, from the Nguyen dynasty period (1802-1945), are on display at an exhibition that opened recently at Lam Dong museum in Da Lat city.

The artifacts, made of gold and gemstones, include flower vases; daily utensils such as bowls and basins; objects used in royal worship and rituals; and items used in royal office, including brushes, ink stone, paperweights and pen holders.

All of the items were carefully carved with highly sophisticated decorative patterns, showing the talent of Vietnam’s craft masters.

The exhibition also introduces 100 documentary photos on Hue royal architecture, the tombs of Nguyen Emperors and images of mandarins from that period. Continue reading “Nguyen dynasty treasures on display in Da Lat”

Israeli tourists charged $22 for 3km ride in Da Lat

A taxi operator in Da Lat City in the Central Highlands’ Lam Dong Province has been fined and had its driver suspended from work for overcharging two foreign tourists earlier this week.

Đường vô xứ ngàn hoa nát như tương

TTTừ Bình Thuận, Đắk Lắk, Đắk Nông, Khánh Hòa… gần như mọi ngả đường đến Lâm Đồng đều nát như tương.

Mặt đường chằng chịt ổ gà, ổ voi. Oái oăm thay, cũng tuyến đường đó nhưng bên kia tỉnh bạn, đường đẹp như… mơ.

Tình trạng trên xảy ra ở những tuyến quốc lộ 28B, 55 (Lâm Đồng đi Bình Thuận), 27 (Lâm Đồng đi Đắk Lắk), 28 (Lâm Đồng đi Đắk Nông), tỉnh lộ 723 (Lâm Đồng đi Khánh Hòa)…
