English: Is Vietnam in for Another Devastating Drought?Bài học từ thảm họa năm ngoái có thể định hình cách tiếp cận đối phó với biến đổi khí hậu ở đồng bằng châu thổ sông Cửu Long ![]() Một người nông dân đang đốt những cây lúa khô, toàn bộ lúa đã bị chết khô do bị ảnh hưởng nặng nề của nạn hạn hán ở huyện Sóc Trăng đồng bằng châu thổ sông Cửu Long, Việt Nam (ngày 30, tháng 3, năm 2016). ISIL video threatens China with ‘rivers of bloodshed’
Al Jazeera
SITE Intelligence Group says footage from Uighur fighters in western Iraq warns China of upcoming attacks.

ISIL fighters from China’s Uighur ethnic minority have vowed to return home and “shed blood like rivers” in what security experts said marked the first such threat against Chinese targets.
The threat came in a half-hour video released Monday by a division of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) featuring fighters from China’s Uighur minority, said the US-based SITE Intelligence Group, which analysed the footage.
China has for years blamed exiled Uighur “separatists” for a series of violent attacks in its western Xinjiang region – the Muslim Uighur homeland – and warned of the potential for them to link up with violent groups.
In the video, a Uighur fighter issued the threat against China just before executing an alleged informant.
“Oh, you Chinese who do not understand what people say. We are the soldiers of the Caliphate, and we will come to you to clarify to you with the tongues of our weapons, to shed blood like rivers and avenging the oppressed,” according to SITE’s translation.
The footage also showed fighters, including heavily armed children, giving speeches, praying, and killing other “informants”. Tiếp tục đọc “ISIL video threatens China with ‘rivers of bloodshed’”

Don’t Believe the New Trump
Donald Trump’s address to Congress on Tuesday night was the first truly presidential speech he has ever given and therefore the best — far superior to his egomaniacal “I alone can fix it” Republican National Convention acceptance speech or his dark and divisive “American carnage” inaugural address. His tribute to fallen Navy SEAL William “Ryan” Owens, delivered while his widow sobbed in the balcony, was a genuinely moving moment, even if earlier in the day he refused to accept any personal responsibility for ordering the raid in which Owens died. For once he did not vilify the media or his opponents. Tiếp tục đọc “Don’t Believe the New Trump”

Workers in VN paid half of salaries in China at Japanese factories

A recent survey by JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) showed Vietnamese workers received $4,025 on average per year in 2016, though they worked for leading Japanese companies.
The amount of money was less than 50 percent of the salary that Japanese companies paid to Chinese workers who work for factories in China.
JETRO’s Chief Representative Atsusuke Kawada said the pay to Vietnamese shows that Vietnam remains a market with cheap labor costs in comparison with other countries. This is a great advantage for Vietnam to attract Japanese investors. Tiếp tục đọc “Workers in VN paid half of salaries in China at Japanese factories”

ISLAMABAD: Thousands of religious hardliners in Pakistan defied a ban on demonstrations to rally on Wednesday in support of a man executed for murdering a popular governor over his call to reform the country’s blasphemy laws.
Mumtaz Qadri was executed on Feb. 29 last year for killing Salman Taseer, the governor of Punjab, Pakistan’s most populous province.
Qadri had been assigned as one of Taseer’s bodyguards after the governor enraged the religious right by calling for reform to the country’s blasphemy laws in support of a Christian woman who had been sentenced to death.
