“The development of domestic trade lacks a comprehensive strategy despite its important role in the economy,” said Pham Nguyen Minh, Director of the Viet Nam Institute for Trade, at a workshop held yesterday to collect comments for the domestic trade development strategy by 2025.

Viet Nam News HCM CITY — HCM City authorities have asked the Ministry of Planning and Investment and Ministry of Finance to allocate an additional VNĐ48.762 trillion (US$2.14 billion) of official development assistance (ODA) in the next three years, with VNĐ8 trillion ($352.33 million) allocated for this year.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has urged the city to work with the government to request more funds to implement two JICA-funded projects this year.

The work includes construction on metro line No 1 Bến Thành-Suối Tiên and the second phase of a water environment improvement project on the Tàu Hủ-Bến Nghé-Đôi-Tẻ canal.

VietNamNet Bridge – Tuan Chau Island “King” Dao Hong Tuyen has caused quite a stir by suggesting a series of mammoth real estate projects in HCMC with total investment capital of VND65 trillion.

Tuyen has suggested building a tourism resort complex – Sai Gon Marina City – in Can Gio beach with the total area of 1,430 hectares.

This would include a yacht port to connect to Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand; ferry line and speedboat to connect to Can Gio and Vung Tau; high-speed and yachts to connect to HCMC with neighboring areas; and resorts, ecological urban areas and a seafood town.

Tuan Chau Island “King” Dao Hong Tuyen has caused quite a stir by suggesting a series of mammoth real estate projects in HCMC with total investment capital of VND65 trillion.

Tuan Chau has also suggested building a boulevard along Sai Go River, about 60 kilometers long, from the Nguyen Huu – Ton Duc Thang turning point to Ben Suc Bridge in Cu Chi district, and an aromatics and chemicals trade center on 20 hectares in Tan Kien ward of Binh Chanh district.

Of the estimated total investment capital of VND65 trillion, Tuan Chau Group would contribute 50 percent.

Tuan Chau’s president Dao Hong Tuyen, who is famous for daring projects, told the press that he hired five foreign consultancy firms, 25 planning experts and tens of engineers, who had to work nights for more than 10 days to implement the survey work and project planning. VietNamNet Bridge – Investors are fleeing from BOT (build-operate-transfer) projects in the transport sector after encountering many difficulties.

BOT investors are now in a dilemma as toll collection is not big enough to pay bank debts.

Tran Ngoc Le from Yen Khanh Production, Trade & Service Company, one of the major investors in the Hac Tri Bridge in Phu Tho province, said the monthly turnover from the project is VND5 billion, while the company has to pay VND10 billion in bank loan interest.

Serious subsidence has caused a major route leading to the east entrance of Ho Chi Minh City to become ‘wavy,’ endangering vehicles traveling on the road.

A section of Hanoi Highway, which connects District 9 in Ho Chi Minh City with neighboring provinces to the east of the city, has had its surface heavily distorted by severe subsidence.

As a large amount of traffic flows on the highway on a daily basis, its surface has become wave-like, with the gaps measuring about 10 to 20 centimeters deep, causing immense challenges for vehicles.

Sản xuất xứng đáng nhận được sự chú ý. Sản xuất tạo ra phần lớn doanh thu xuất khẩu ở các nước giàu và có lịch sử phát triển nhanh về năng suất. Mặc dù vậy, sản xuất chỉ tạo ra khoảng 10-15% việc làm ở các nước đang phát triển (và thậm chí ít hơn ở Hoa Kỳ và một vài nước phát triển nhất thế giới), và sản xuất cũng không còn đóng vai trò quan trọng trong việc tạo ra giá trị thặng dư và việc làm (Dadush, 2015). Nói cách khác, sản xuất là ngành nhỏ và tương đối chậm phát triển, trong khi cạnh tranh quốc tế rất khốc liệt. Bởi vì xuất khẩu sản xuất phụ thuộc nhiều vào linh kiện nhập khẩu, tính trong giá trị gia tăng, nên sản xuất đóng góp ít hơn trong nguồn thu ngoại tệ, không nhiều như mọi người thường nghĩ. Không chỉ ở các nước phát triển mà cả ở các nước đang phát triển, thu nhập ngoại tệ ròng phần lớn không có liên quan đến sản xuất. Dũng said the ministry had received investment plans from all six provinces, but each differs on the scale, direction, mechanism and resources for the route.
