Báo cáo Phát triển Thế giới năm 2018 kêu gọi những giải pháp hữu hiệu, hành động rõ ràng.

Hàng triệu học sinh, sinh viên ở những nước có thu nhập thấp và trung bình phải đối mặt với nguy cơ bị tước đoạt các cơ hội hoặc chỉ nhận được mức lương thấp bởi ngay từ bậc tiểu học và trung học, trường lớp đã không dạy chúng thành công trong cuộc sống. Trong cảnh báo về khủng hoảng giáo dục toàn cầu, báo cáo cho rằng trường học mà không đi đôi với học tập và giáo dục thì không chỉ làm lãng phí cơ hội phát triển con người, mà còn là thiệt thòi lớn cho trẻ em và người trẻ nói chung toàn cầu.

Theo Báo cáo Phát triển Thế giới năm 2018: “Hiện thực hóa lời hứa Giáo dục” nhận định, nếu không có học tập và giáo dục, giáo dục sẽ không thể thực hiện mục tiêu xóa nghèo, tạo ra cơ hội và sự phồn vinh cho tất cả mọi người. Ngay cả khi đã được đào tạo ở trường nhiều năm, hàng triệu đứa trẻ vẫn không thể đọc, viết hay làm những con toán đơn giản. Khủng hoảng giáo dục đang nới rộng khoảng cách xã hội thay vì thu hẹp lại.  Những trẻ em vốn chịu thiệt thòi vì nghèo đói, xung đột vũ trang, phân biệt giới tính hay khuyết tật cơ thể nay trở thành những người trưởng thành trẻ tuổi không có cả những kỹ năng sống cơ bản nhất.

“Cuộc khủng hoảng giáo dục này đồng thời cũng là cuộc khủng hoảng đạo đức và kinh tế” Chủ tịch Ngân hàng Thế giới Jim Yong Kim nhấn mạnh. “Nếu đi đúng hướng, giáo dục tốt sẽ cho người trẻ một công việc tốt, thu nhập tốt hơn, sức khỏe tốt và một cuộc sống không còn nghèo khó.”
Với cộng đồng, giáo dục thúc đẩy sự đổi mới, củng cố tổ chức, và tăng liên kết xã hội. Nhưng tất cả lợi ích này có được nhờ việc học tập và giáo dục, và và trường học mà không có giáo dục chỉ làm ta bỏ lỡ những cơ hội. Hơn thế, đây là điều bất công tại các xã hội có khủng hoảng, trẻ em càng cần được hưởng nền giáo dục tốt để thành công trong cuộc sống sau này.

Ba trường học của thương hiệu Vinschool tại Hà Nội đã đón 13.000 học sinh vào học từ cấp mầm non tới trung học phổ thông. Tập đoàn Vingroup sẽ mở một trường nữa ở Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh và cũng đang đề xuất mở một trường cao đẳng y khoa quanh Hà Nội.

The floodgates of the largest and most controversial dam project in the country’s history officially closed yesterday at an inauguration ceremony presided over by Prime Minister Hun Sen, who took aim at environmentalists, ambassadors and NGOs in a wide-ranging speech.

During his one-hour address, the prime minister said the Lower Sesan II Dam, near the border with Laos in Stung Treng province, would lower electricity costs and put the Kingdom on its way to hooking up every village in the country to the electricity grid by 2022.
