I am an attorney in the Washington DC area, with a Doctor of Law in the US, attended the master program at the National School of Administration of Việt Nam, and graduated from Sài Gòn University Law School. I aso studied philosophy at the School of Letters in Sài Gòn. . I have worked as an anti-trust attorney for Federal Trade Commission and a litigator for a fortune-100 telecom company in Washington DC. I have taught law courses for legal professionals in Việt Nam and still counsel VN government agencies on legal matters. I have founded and managed businesses for me and my family, both law and non-law. I have published many articles on national newspapers and radio stations in Việt Nam. In 1989 I was one of the founding members of US-VN Trade Council, working to re-establish US-VN relationship. Since the early 90's, I have established and managed VNFORUM and VNBIZ forum on VN-related matters; these forums are the subject of a PhD thesis by Dr. Caroline Valverde at UC-Berkeley and her book Transnationalizing Viet Nam. I translate poetry and my translation of "A Request at Đồng Lộc Cemetery" is now engraved on a stone memorial at Đồng Lộc National Shrine in VN. I study and teach the Bible and Buddhism. In 2009 I founded and still manage dotchuoinon.com on positive thinking and two other blogs on Buddhism. In 2015 a group of friends and I founded website CVD - Conversations on Vietnam Development (cvdvn.net). I study the art of leadership with many friends who are religious, business and government leaders from many countries. I have written these books, published by Phu Nu Publishing House in Hanoi: "Positive Thinking to Change Your Life", in Vietnamese (TƯ DUY TÍCH CỰC Thay Đổi Cuộc Sống) (Oct. 2011) "10 Core Values for Success" (10 Giá trị cốt lõi của thành công) (Dec. 2013) "Live a Life Worth Living" (Sống Một Cuộc Đời Đáng Sống) (Oct. 2023) I practice Jiu Jitsu and Tai Chi for health, and play guitar as a hobby, usually accompanying my wife Trần Lê Túy Phượng, aka singer Linh Phượng.

Jurisprudence no. 06/2016/AL was adopted by the Council of Judges of the Supreme People’s Court on 6 April 2016 and declared by the Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court in the decision no. 220/QD-CA dated 6 April 2016.

Source of jurisprudence: Cassation decision no. 100/2013/GDT-DS dated 12 August 2013 of the Council of Judges of the Supreme People’s Court concerning a dispute on decedent’s estate in which the Claimant is Mr. Vu Dinh Hung, the Respondents are Ms. Vu Thi Tien and Ms. Vu Thi Hau and the persons with related interests and obligations are Mr. Vu Dinh Duong, Ms. Vu Thi Cam, Ms. Vu Thi Thao, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh and Ms. Ha Thuy Linh.

Established rule: Concerning dispute on decedent’s estate, in the situation where an inheritor resides abroad, if the Court has requested judicial entrustment and sought evidence but cannot know his/her whereabouts, the Court shall continue to settle the claims made by other inheritors, the part of the decedent’s estate attributed to the absent inheritor shall be temporarily managed by an inheritor residing in Vietnam and then handed over to him/her. Established rule: Concerning dispute on decedent’s estate, in the situation where an inheritor contributing to the added value of the property does not agree to divide the decedent’s estate due to the expiration of the statute of limitations, if the Court still decides to divide the decedent’s estate, it shall take into account his contribution to the added value of the decedent’s estate even though the inheritor does not request the Court to do so. Sau khi chém chết một cán bộ và hai người khác trong đoàn bảo vệ rừng bị thương, nhóm côn đồ tiếp tục tấn công lực lượng chức năng, cướp súng, đập phá xe cảnh sát tiếp ứng.

Một ngày sau thoát khỏi nhóm côn đồ truy sát trong lúc cùng đoàn công tác bảo vệ đất rừng bị lấn chiếm, anh Triệu Văn Hiệp – Xã đội trưởng kiêm Phó ban lâm nghiệp xã Phi Tô, huyện Lâm Hà (Lâm Đồng) vẫn chưa hết sợ hãi. Anh là người bị thương nhẹ nhất trong 3 cán bộ bị chém khi chỉ khâu vài mũi ở đầu.

Anh Hiệp kể, 11h trưa hôm qua, khi đang tuần tra tại tiểu khu 243 (xã Phi Tô, huyện Lâm Hà, Lâm Đồng), hai cán bộ Ban quản lý rừng phòng hộ Nam Ban phát hiện nhiều người đang chặt rừng gần 3 năm tuổi để lấy đất làm rẫy. Thấy nhóm người khá đông nên hai cán bộ này gọi điện yêu cầu hỗ trợ lực lượng để ngăn chặn việc lấn chiếm đất rừng.

Một số cây trồng trên đường Nguyễn Văn Trỗi, Trần Phú (Hà Đông), Dương Đình Nghệ (Cầu Giấy, Hà Nội) bị bật gốc trong bão Marinae lộ nguyên vỏ bọc bằng nhựa, nylon.

Sáng 9/8, UBND TP Hà Nội công bố 15 công ty trồng cây bị đổ trong bão Mirinae ngày 27/7, trong đó có nhiều đơn vị như: Công ty TNHH MTV Công viên cây xanh, Công ty CP tư vấn đầu tư xây dựng Hà Thành, Công ty TNHH MTV Vườn thú Hà Nội… Số cây bị đổ nhiều nhất (hơn 3.000) là tiếp nhận từ các chủ đầu tư dự án. Cây trồng theo hình thức xã hội hóa và vốn ngân sách thành phố bị đổ, chỉ hơn 100 cây.

TOKYO — Chinese vessels have made several incursions since Sunday into the territorial waters surrounding the Japanese-administered Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea, Japan’s Foreign Affairs Ministry said early Monday.

Rodrigo Duterte, the newly minted president of the Philippines, was quick out of the gates after taking office in late June. In an executive order on July 24, Duterte established new freedom of information regulations for the executive branch by circumventing Congress, where freedom of information bills have languished for decades. The president made infrastructure a top priority for his administration, pushing road construction projects around the country along with solutions to many of Manila’s chronic woes such as flooding and the overcrowding of its international airport. Who was the biggest mass murderer in the history of the world? Most people probably assume that the answer is Adolf Hitler, architect of the Holocaust. Others might guess Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin, who may indeed have managed to kill even more innocent people than Hitler did, many of them as part of a terror famine that likely took more lives than the Holocaust. But both Hitler and Stalin were outdone by Mao Zedong. From 1958 to 1962, his Great Leap Forward policy led to the deaths of up to 45 million people – easily making it the biggest episode of mass murder ever recorded.
