When Vietnam invaded Cambodia in 1979, did they capture a lot of MiG fighters donated by China that the Khmer Rouge had never used as they had nobody who could use them?
The MIG fighter you mentioned in your question is actually CORRECT. It was the F-6 fighters made by China based on copying MIG-19 fighters of USSR.
In China it called J-6 fighters. F-6 is its exported version.
China gave to Khmer Rough 6 F-6 fighters. F-6 equipped with two turbojet WP-6A engines which can reach to maximum speed of 1,540km/h, a combat range of about 600-800km, it was armed with three 30mm cannons. When needed, it can carry additional rocket launchers or 250kg bombs.
VietNam received a little J-6 fighters and its capabilities are quite well, it helped the PAVN in air to air combat against U.S fighters quite good.
After the Vietnamese troops entered to Cambodia, they captured all the weapons China gave to Cambodia, even some has just been delivered to Khmer Rough in the morning by China.
All the weapons, ammunition, tanks, armored vehicles, aircrafts…etc which Vietnam captured from Khmer Rough has been recorded and equipped to HunSen’s army according the to the order from the top commander of the PAVN in Cambodia – General Lê Đức Anh.
