Với mức lương hưu từ 2-4,5 triệu đồng mỗi tháng, nhiều người ngoài 60 tuổi vẫn phải làm thêm các công việc khác để có thêm thu nhập. Họ mong lương hưu được hưởng ít nhất bằng mức lương tối thiểu.

Ông Lê Viết Hưởng, 61 tuổi, trú tại xã Vũ Vinh, huyện Vũ Thư, tỉnh Thái Bình hiện đang được hưởng mức lương hưu 2,3 triệu đồng/tháng. Mức lương này đang thấp hơn mức lương tối thiểu vùng đang áp dụng trên địa bàn huyện Vũ Thư (mức 3.070.000 đồng/tháng). Với số tiền hưu nhận được, ông Hưởng sống khá chật vật, nhất là khi tuổi già, sức khoẻ suy giảm.

Vietnam to increase coal imports in 2025-2035 period: Ministry

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s coal imports are forecast to rise to meet domestic production demand, according to a draft strategy for developing the coal industry in Vietnam recently introduced by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).

Accordingly, Vietnam will import about 50-83 million tonnes of coal per year during the period from 2025 to 2035, with the volume gradually falling to about 32-35 million tonnes by 2045.

The data from the MoIT shows domestic coal consumption increased rapidly from 27.8 million tonnes in 2011 to 38.77 million tonnes in 2015, and about 53.52 million tonnes in 2021.

The volume of coal consumed at present has more than doubled compared to 2011, mainly for electricity production.

The demand for primary energy, including coal, will continue to increase, possibly peaking in the 2030-2035 period, the ministry said.

Vietnam’s coal demand will be around 94-97 million tonnes in 2025, and peak at 125-127 million tonnes in 2030, mainly due to the increase in demand for power generation, and the cement, metallurgy and chemical industries.

The ministry also predicted that the demand for energy after 2040 will decline due to the energy transition process to meet emission reduction targets.

Universities have removed books from reading lists to protect students from “challenging” content, an investigation has found.

Essex and Sussex admitted removing texts from study lists after freedom of information (FOI) requests were issued to 140 UK universities by The Times.

The universities are thought to be the first in the UK that have purged books altogether.

The increasingly dominant view in the energy expert community is that nuclear power has a role to play in achieving the 17 “sustainable devaelopment goals” identified by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 (and intended to be reached by 2030). There has thus been rising interest in nuclear power development in several parts of the world, especially in the Indo-Pacific, where growth is the strongest.

This renewed interest comes not long after the failed “nuclear renaissance” of the 2000s. That renaissance never materialized primarily because the devastating accidents at Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in 2011 led many countries to reconsider their nuclear power ambitions. Now, however, national energy and climate objectives are again driving these same countries to put the nuclear option back on the table. This interest has only grown in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the subsequent efforts to choke off Russian natural gas and oil exports, and the resulting increase in global prices for fossil fuels. Vị trí tôi giữ với đa số mọi người thường gần đến lúc nghỉ hưu mới được ngồi vào. Vì thế tôi cảm động lắm, lúc nào cũng sục sôi muốn đóng góp xây dựng bệnh viện.

Thời gian ấy, xã hội đang sôi nổi khí thế đổi mới nền kinh tế. Ngành y bao năm bị mang tiếng trì trệ, lương thấp, lạc hậu… cũng muốn hòa vào trào lưu đổi mới đó.

Ngành y tế TP HCM lúc bấy giờ có đề án cổ phần hóa Bệnh viện Bình Dân. Dư luận rất quan tâm. Giới y chúng tôi bàn tán sôi nổi. Nhiều người mong có luồng gió mới mẻ xua tan những trì trệ trong ngành.

If you can afford $2.5 million to purchase a passport to Europe, then you’re probably already on someone’s rich list with at least a Porsche in the garage. The leak reveals 2,500 people who paid to become new citizens of Cyprus with the added perk of be able to live and work anywhere from Milan to Monte Carlo.

So who’s on the list? Among the names in The Cyprus Papers are convicted criminals, men on the run and political figures regarded as a high-risk for dirty money.

(CNN)A new group led by a prominent conservative lawyer has received $1.6 billion from one donor — the largest single contribution to a politically focused nonprofit that’s ever been made public, and a fortune that could be used to fuel right-wing interests.

The nonprofit, Marble Freedom Trust, received the contribution in the form of stock and then funneled more than $200 million to other conservative organizations last year, a tax form CNN obtained from the IRS shows.

Marble Freedom is led by Leonard Leo, the co-chairman of the conservative Federalist Society, who advised former President Donald Trump on his Supreme Court picks and runs a sprawling network of other right-wing nonprofits that don’t disclose their donors, which are often referred to as dark money groups.

On August 3, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made an official visit to Myanmar, underscoring Russia’s support for the country’s military government.

The visit came just over a week after Myanmar’s military junta announced it had executed four pro-democracy activists – the country’s first executions in decades – sparking international condemnation.

Myanmar has spiraled into chaos since February 2021, when the military seized power by force from the elected government.

As of August 5, the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners, run by Myanmar citizens in exile, said 2,158 “people, pro-democracy activists and other civilians” have been killed as a result of the post-coup military crackdown.

Lavrov said Russia stood in solidarity with “efforts to stabilize the situation in the country” and welcomed planned elections next year. Analysts say the elections will be used to install a pro-military government.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova weighed in on what she described as Lavrov’s “rich visit.” In reference to U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s recent trip to Taiwan, Zakharova said Lavrov visited “to promote cooperation,” rather than provoke China.

“Russia brings cooperation, peace, [and] stability to the region. Russia operates based on international law, mutual respect and the mutual consideration of interests,” Russian state broadcaster Sputnik quoted Zakharova as saying.

That is false. Russia, as a major supplier of arms to Myanmar’s military government, is doing anything but bringing peace and stability to the region.
