Maritime Claims of the Indo-Pacific
AMTI has expanded and improved its interactive Maritime Claims of the Indo-Pacific map to include all the Pacific Islands and more. The database of nearly 40 countries in South Asia, East Asia, and the Pacific is the most comprehensive and accurate resource on maritime claims available to the public. Users can search claimants by name or select up to six from a list of available countries. Claim types can be toggled on or off, including territorial baselines, territorial seas, exclusive economic zones, continental shelves, and the nine-dash/U-shaped line.

All claims are shown based on states’ domestic legislation, treaties, and submissions to international bodies. The map is an unbiased depiction of claims; it does not judge their legality or guess at future delimitations. Users can click on any claim line for its source, including links to original documents where available. Details on methodology are available below the map.

Japanese researcher helps Vietnam tackle AO/dioxin-related health issues

Tokyo (VNA) – A Japanese researcher has just announced a project on training Vietnamese health workers in addressing problems related to Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin chemical that was sprayed on the country during the war.

Japan’s national broadcasting organization NHK quoted Professor Kido Teruhiko from the Kanazawa University and officials from the Japan International Cooperation Agency as saying the project will last for three years in the Vietnamese central province of Binh Dinh’s Phu Cat district. Theo lời nhận xét của ông Quách Tòng Đức, từng làm Đổng lý Văn phòng cho Ngô Đình Diệm khi ông này ngồi trên ghế Tổng thống của cái gọi là nền Đệ nhất Cộng hoà Việt Nam, trong gia đình họ Ngô theo Công giáo thời ấy có hai người đã gây nên nhiều tiếng xấu nhất trong dư luận là Trần Lệ Xuân, vợ Ngô Đình Nhu, và Tổng Giám mục Ngô Đình Thục.

Là một người khoác áo nhà tu nhưng Ngô Đình Thục đã có không ít những hành động sai quấy cả trên phương diện đạo đứclẫn chính trị, khiến cho chế độ gia đình trị của hai người em Ngô Đình Diệm – Ngô Đình Nhu rốt cuộc đã bị xoá sổ mau chóng sau chưa đầy một thập niên làm mưa làm gió trên chính trường Sài Gòn.
