BANGKOK: Nearly 200 Southeast Asians were among more than 50,000 service members in the Israeli military holding more than one passport, according to official data obtained by an Israeli non-governmental organisation.

There were 111 Filipinos, 71 Thais, 4 Vietnamese, 2 Singaporeans and 1 Indonesian enlisted in the Israeli military as of March 2025, according to numbers obtained by the NGO Hatzlacha, a volunteer emergency medical service, through Israel’s Freedom of Information Law.

Xét vai vế, tôi phải gọi ông là ông cậu. Ông là em út của bà ngoại vợ tôi. Mùa hè năm 1982 ở Beirut, ông đến nhà chỉ có bộ quần áo trên người và một cái túi ni lông. Nhà ông cách chúng tôi vài km và vừa ăn bom sập, nhưng may lúc đó ông đang ở ngoài. 

Ông đi thẳng đến chỗ chúng tôi, trên đường thấy một cửa hàng thịt còn mở, thấy còn bao nhiêu ông mua hết, cả thảy 5kg thịt cừu lổn nhổn cả sườn cả mỡ… Buổi sáng hôm đó là ngày chót tiệm bánh mì mở cửa trước khi họ hết bột. Vợ tôi mua được 10kg. 

Bánh mì Ả Rập dẹt như bánh xèo, bình thường giữ được đến một tuần, nhưng trong 5 tuần sau đó tại phía tây thành Beirut đang bị Israel công hãm, ngoài cá hộp thì 3 người chúng tôi chỉ có bằng ấy thực phẩm, bánh mì khô ăn với thịt cừu chiên kỹ.

A doctor, first responder, social media content creator and a child share their experiences of the war on Gaza. From October 2023, they survive under Israeli bombardment, revealing moments of strength and vulnerability.

They are all displaced because their homes have been destroyed by Israeli air strikes. As the doctor flees south, contact is lost. For the others, impossible choices must be made under unimaginable circumstances as the months passing turn into a year. As the war intensifies, nowhere is safe.

While sheltering in makeshift tents, schools and refugee compounds, they do not know if they or their loved ones will live to see another day. All of their stories reveal their humanity in times of war.

Ngày 17-9, trong hơn 1 tiếng và từ 15g30 trở đi, trên 3.000 máy nhắn tin ở Lebanon đồng loạt phát nổ. Ngày hôm sau, thêm khoảng 300 bộ đàm cầm tay cũng phát nổ cùng một số bình điện xe con và tấm pin mặt trời. Số tử thương trong hai ngày lên đến 37 và số bị thương nặng nhẹ lên đến gần 3.000.

Các nhà đàm phán đã nhất trí một kế hoạch rút quân đội Mỹ khỏi Iraq sau khi quân đội Mỹ liên tục bị các lực lượng ủy nhiệm của Iran tấn công. Tuy nhiên, thỏa thuận này vẫn cần “sự chấp thuận cuối cùng” từ các nhà lãnh đạo ở Baghdad và Washington dù rằng thỏa thuận được xem như đã xong, như một quan chức Mỹ đã nói “bây giờ chỉ còn là vấn đề thời điểm công bố”.

Thỏa thuận này sẽ chứng kiến nhiều binh lính Mỹ rút khỏi Iraq vào tháng 9/2025 và những binh lính cuối cùng sẽ rời đi vào cuối năm 2026.

Những người chỉ trích “cuộc chiến tranh trường kỳ” của Mỹ có thể sẽ hoan nghênh thỏa thuận này, nhưng nó có thể gây ra mối lo ngại trong số các nhà hoạch định chính sách và đồng minh của Mỹ trong khu vực đang tập trung vào ảnh hưởng của Iran. It’s been almost seven months since the start of the U.S.-backed Israeli genocide in Gaza, which has claimed – at minimum – tens of thousands of Palestinian lives, including at least 15,000 children. There is mass starvation in the north, countless mass graves are being found every day from where the Israelis have withdrawn and a ground invasion of Rafah, which is under heavy bombardment, is still on the books. Despite all this and the growing domestic pressure on the U.S. government to change course, Joe Biden and his administration have shown no desire to choose a different course. Instead, unlike the media narrative that puts blame squarely on Netanyahu, this administration is showing what Joe Biden has shown throughout his career: complete deference to and support of the state of Israel.

2.500 năm trước, đế triều Aechemenid của Ba Tư trị vì từ Hy Lạp đến Ubezkistan và từ Libya đến Ấn Độ, là một trong những đế chế lớn nhất lịch sử, diện tích 5,5 triệu km2, bao trùm cả… Israel ngày nay.

Trong kinh Cựu ước của Kitô, tức là sách thánh của đạo Do Thái, Đế Ba Tư Cyrus vĩ đại là ân nhân của dân tộc Do Thái và được Do Thái đưa lên hàng “thiên sứ”. JERUSALEM (AP) — The Israel-Hamas war has stretched on for half a year and become one of the most destructive, deadly, and intractable conflicts of the 21st century.

Since Hamas’ Oct. 7 cross-border attack, Israel has pummeled the Gaza Strip, displacing the vast majority of the population and causing many to flee to Gaza’s southernmost city, Rafah. Food is scarce, the U.N. says famine is approaching and few Palestinians have been able to leave the besieged territory.

Meanwhile, Hamas continues to fire rockets into Israel from Gaza, and Hezbollah and other militant groups do so from southern Lebanon, prompting tit-for-tat fighting that has displaced thousands of civilians on both sides of Israel’s borders. Hamas is still holding hostages taken during the Oct. 7 raid, as well as the bodies of some who died in captivity. And cease-fire talks stretch on with no end in sight.
