Hue, Vung Tau, and Quy Nhon have been awarded the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Awards 2024, recognized for their commitment to cleanliness, managing waste, and promoting environmental awareness.
The award ceremony is part of the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2024, held in the Laos capital Vientiane, from Jan. 22 – 27.
These three destinations have been honored with the ASEAN Clean Tourism City award before. Quy Nhon earned the award in 2020, while Vung Tau and Hue have each claimed the award three times previously.

Phu Quoc authorities have pledged to improve the quality of tourism services on the island and prevent price gouging as they seek to reverse the recent slump in tourism.
They said they would establish an inspection team with officials from various agencies to check the quality and prices of tourism services during the peak holiday season comprising Christmas, New Year and Lunar New Year.

For weeks Hanoian Bùi Trang Dung was unable to decide where to take her family for vacation last summer.
“This place is beautiful in the summer, that place has many delicious foods and the other one is cheaper.” These were the words that constantly ran in the 42-year-old’s mind.
She then came across a piece of information about a music show by a famous singer she loved in Mù Cang Chải in the northern province of Yên Bái.

Bằng con mắt chuyên môn, vị chuyên gia về địa chất đã cảnh báo rằng, với tốc độ xâm thực và bào mòn của sóng, gió và tác động của con người như hiện nay, chẳng bao lâu nữa độ kết cấu “hai chân” của hòn Trống Mái sẽ bị cưa đứt. Tại thời điểm đó có người nói đùa rằng, hòn Trống Mái đang đứng trên hai “que tăm” bởi trông nó rất chênh vênh, chung chiêng nhất là khi những đợt sóng cao ập vào. Vị chuyên gia còn nói thêm, cũng đã nhiều lần lên tiếng cảnh báo qua mối quan hệ công việc nhưng nhìn chung chưa mấy ai tin, hoặc nhận được câu trả lời đại loại như “trông thế thôi, nó còn vững chãi lắm”.

Giant statues of sage spring up all over mainland as developers and officials bid to lure tourists

Local officials on the mainland are drawing inspiration from Buddha, but perhaps not in a way he might have intended.
Tourism bureaus and developers are racing to build ever-higher statues of Buddha, in an attempt to copy the success of the Lingshan Grand Buddha in Wuxi, Jiangsu province.
The 88-metre-high attraction drew about 3.8 million visitors last year, generating more than 1.2 billion yuan (HK$1.5 billion). Not a bad return on 725 tonnes of bronze sheet.
Hong Kong’s Tian Tan Buddha, at a modest 34 metres, would barely rise to the knees of the current behemoths such as the 208-metre-high Spring Temple Buddha in Lushan county in Henan province.
At least five others taller than Tian Tan are spread across the mainland and the list is set to grow, including a planned 88-metre-high statue of the bodhisattva Guanyin in Suzhou , Jiangsu province, a 99-metre depiction of the bodhisattva Ksitigarbha in Anhui province, and a 48-metre statue of Amitabha Buddha at Lu Mountain in Jiangxi province.
According to the New Weekly, the Aerosun Corporation, which built the Tian Tan Buddha on Lantau, is developing more than 10 such projects across the country this year.
