Since May 2018, imports of scrap plastic have banned at major ports in Vietnam until further notice. In July 2018, the Vietnamese government announced it will no longer issue new license for plastic waste import.

Chinese investment has generated jobs and brought capital, but it may also bring about environmental risks and cause problems in foreign worker management, experts say.

The Q1 report about Vietnam’s macroeconomy released by VEPR (the Vietnam Institute for Economic and Policy Research) shows that implemented FDI capital increased by 7.52 percent compared with the same period last year, while registered FDI capital was $3.82 billion. The decision by Quang Binh provincial authorities to reject the cable car project at Song Doong Cave has been applauded by the public.

Experts in recent years have repeatedly warned of ‘landscape pollution’ because of mass tourism, saying that bad behavior towards the landscape and heritage sites are harming cultural values, and in the long term, killing the tourism industry.

Chú Sáu, 65 tuổi, quê ở huyện Long Hồ, Vĩnh Long, vợ bị tai biến ở quê, lên Sài Gòn bán vé số dạo kiếm sống đã 3 năm. Ban đầu, chú xin vô bán vé số và lưu trú ở đại lý của anh Quân, gần trường ĐH Lạc Hồng, Biên Hòa. Rồi bị xe đụng gãy chân, chữa chưa lành hẳn chú đã chuyển qua 1- 2 đại lý khác ở Sài Gòn, Bình Dương. Hiện nay, mỗi ngày từ 2 giờ sáng chú đã thức dậy, đi bộ bán vé số từ Bình Dương về đến Sài Gòn (khoảng 30km), sẩm tối lại quay về Bình Dương. Le site américain Bloomberg a estimé que le Vietnam pourrait être le “grand gagnant’’ du conflit commercial entre la Chine et les États-Unis, évoquant plusieurs raisons qui rendent le pays très attractif aux yeux des investisseurs étrangers. “Dans la course pour attirer les entreprises à la recherche de sites alternatifs dans la guerre commerciale américano-chinoise, le Vietnam dispose de nombreux avantages par rapport à ses concurrents’’, a-t-il écrit.

Le Vietnam est sur le point de conquérir une partie des parts de marché mondial de la Chine dans le secteur manufacturier à forte besoin de main-d’œuvre, a analysé Trinh Nguyên, économiste senior chez Natixis à Hong Kong (Chine).

Vietnamese teenage girl runs project that brings light to the blind

At just 16 years old, while most girls her age were out roaming shopping malls or hanging out in parks, Penny, an eleventh grader at Saigon South International School, was choosing to spend her weekends working on a charity project aimed at helping the blind regain their sight.

Penny, whose real name is Pham Thien Tam, has spent the last few years waking up at 4:30 am each weekend morning to prepare for a long day with her mother and friends helping other at the Nguyen Trai Eye Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.

HẢI PHÒNG — Nguyễn Xuân Thu, general director of Vinaca Limited Company, which produced anti-cancer drugs made from bamboo charcoal powder has been sentenced to 22 years in prison.

Chưa bao giờ Việt Nam xảy ra một thảm họa lớn như thế cả về số lượng người chết lẫn quy mô của vùng bị nạn, có lẽ chỉ thua cuộc chiến chống Mỹ 1954-1975 nhưng thời gian nạn đói 1944-1945 thì có 6-7 tháng.
