HANOI, Dec 8 (Reuters) – U.S. and Russian defence firms on Thursday displayed weapons and promoted models of aircraft at Vietnam’s first large-scale arms fair, as the two powers vie for influence and arms sales in the strategic Southeast Asian country that borders China.
The event at a Hanoi airbase attracted 174 exhibitors from 30 countries, including all large arms-making nations except China.
Controversial changes fuelled protests when they were first proposed in 2019 and could still be challenged in court.

Indonesia has passed a controversial new Criminal Code that includes outlawing sex outside marriage and cohabitation, in changes that critics contend could undermine freedoms in the Southeast Asian nation.
The new laws apply to Indonesians and foreigners and also restore a ban on insulting the president, state institutions or Indonesia’s national ideology known as Pancasila.

Đây là vụ án “lừa đảo chiếm đoạt tài sản”, “rửa tiền” do 23 bị can cùng thực hiện. Theo đó, tùy từng vị trí, vai trò mỗi bị can được phân công nhiệm vụ cụ thể, trong đó Nguyễn Thái Luyện với vai trò là Chủ tịch HĐQT Công ty Cổ phần địa ốc Alibaba (Công ty Alibaba). Theo quy định tại Điều lệ tổ chức hoạt động của Công ty Alibaba, Luyện cũng là Chủ tịch HĐQT, kiêm Tổng giám đốc; đồng thời là người chỉ đạo xuyên suốt, toàn bộ hoạt động của Công ty Alibaba và 22 pháp nhân trực thuộc.

HANOI, Dec 7 (Reuters) – Vietnam is eyeing a major defence shift as it seeks to reduce its reliance on Russian arms and launch a push to export locally made weapons, officials and analysts said, with possible buyers in Africa, Asia – and potentially even Moscow.
The Southeast Asian nation is one of the world’s 20 biggest buyers of weapons amid on-and-off tensions with China, with an annual budget for arms imports estimated at about $1 billion and set to grow, according to GlobalData, a provider of military procurement intelligence.
Most of that money has historically gone to Russia, which was for decades Vietnam’s main supplier of weapons and defence systems. That made Vietnam one of the top buyers of Russian arms, according to data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), which tracks global military expenditures.

Hai công ty đang hoạt động trong lĩnh vực vệ sinh môi trường, gồm: Công ty TNHH công nghệ Sài Gòn Group (phường Hiệp Bình Chánh, TP Thủ Đức, TP.HCM) và Công ty vệ sinh môi trường Tiến Đạt (TP Dĩ An, tỉnh Bình Dương) chuyên tổ chức dán quảng cáo trên cột điện, cửa nhà, tường nhà…, thậm chí cả nắp cống trên đường.
Người Đô Thị đã trao đổi với PGS-TS. Nguyễn Thiện Tống, nguyên Chủ nhiệm bộ môn Kỹ thuật hàng không, Đại học Bách khoa TP.HCM – về câu chuyện quy hoạch tổng thể phát triển cảng hàng không, đặc biệt là câu hỏi: địa phương nào thật sự có nhu cầu về sân bay?
PGS-TS. Nguyễn Thiện Tống nói: “Cần phải có bảng tính toán về nhu cầu, tiềm năng hành khách của từng sân bay. Từ kết quả tính toán trị số nhu cầu bằng phương pháp của tôi, tôi thấy cần đưa vào quy hoạch các sân bay theo thứ tự ưu tiên lần lượt là Sơn La, Hà Giang, Lào Cai, Lai Châu, Cao Bằng, Phan Thiết, Bình Phước, Lạng Sơn, Yên Bái, Đắk Nông. Song song đó, nên đưa sân bay Quảng Trị ra khỏi quy hoạch”.

BALTIC SEA — Standing NATO Maritime Group 1 (SNMG1) and Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 1 (SNMCMG1) joined 12 nations for Finnish Navy exercise Freezing Winds in the Baltic Sea from Nov. 22 to Dec. 2.
One of NATO partner nation Finland’s largest maritime exercises, Freezing Winds offered both the Finnish Navy, as well as participating nations and NATO, valuable training opportunities that contribute to increased maritime safety and security in the Baltic Sea region.
The exercise focused on interoperability between the multinational joint forces.
“Cooperation with the Finnish Navy remains strong,” Royal Netherlands Navy Commodore Jeanette Morang, commander SNMG1 said. “Of course there are always challenges when it comes to communication, but that is exactly why we train – to improve. From our perspective, we wanted not only to contribute, but we also wanted to learn in this exercise to develop a deeper understanding of regional maritime issues specific to Finland.”

She had never been to a city before taking the job in early 2021, but the former farmer from the Mekong Delta in southern Vietnam was indifferent to the urban bustle of the country’s largest city.

Over the past year, the Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative and the Center for Advanced Defense Studies conducted a study of China’s maritime militia using remote sensing data and open-source Chinese language research. The resulting report, Pulling Back the Curtain on China’s Maritime Militia, features the most comprehensive study to-date of the structure, subsidies, and ownership networks of China’s maritime militia in the South China Sea, as well as a methodology for identifying Chinese maritime militia vessels and a list of over 120 militia vessels thus identified.
