HCM CITY — Construction of two bridges linking Cao Lãnh City and Lấp Vò District in Đồng Tháp Province and Đồng Tháp with Cần Thơ, which are under way, will be a big boost to transportation and connectivity in the Mekong Delta.

HCM CITY – Tiền Phong Industrial Zone JSC and Russia’s Seaport of Azov on Friday agreed to transform 100 hectares in Quảng Ninh Province into a hub for industrial manufacturing and port operations.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU), signed by Tiền Phong Industrial Zone JSC, in which Deep C consortium (Rent A Port) is a majority shareholder, and the Russian giant in port development and operations, agrees to start work on the Việt Nam-Russia Industrial Complex soon, provided the Vietnamese Government offers its support in speeding up the process. The H’mong King’s Palace is considered a gem of the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang, and is a popular tourist destination besides the Dong Van Stone Plateau.
Lying some 130 kilometres north of Ha Giang Town, the century-old palace is still the largest construction in the area and boasts special architecture style.
According to a tour guide who is also a woman member of the King’s family at the palace, Vuong Chinh Duc (1865 – 1947), known as the king of the H’mong or Meo ethnic minority group in the area, built the palace which cost 150,000 Indochina silver coins equivalent to VND150 billion (USD 6.61 million). Viet Nam News QUẢNG NAM — The Chàm island’s Marine Protected Area (MPA) management board started conservation of the green turtle (Chelonia mydas) by hatching 450 eggs taken from Côn Đảo Island on August 30.

The People’s Committee of the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long on Monday declared state of natural disasters level 1 (the lowest level) due to land erosion.
Landslide on the Hau river bank has caused houses to collapse.
Earlier, on the night of August 22 and early morning of August 23, as many as 34 households along the riverbank of Vinh River in Thanh Phuoc Ward, Binh Minh Town, were affected by land erosion. BÀ RỊA-VŨNG TÀU – After five years of operation, the Bưng Riềng landfill in Xuyên Mộc District has started leaking wastewater and spreading foul smells in the southern province.
The landfill is overloaded with about 22sq.m of unprocessed garbage, according to a report by the Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province Department of Natural Resources and Environment.
