Earlier this year, the UN found alarmingly high levels of violence against women and girls, with one in three women across the globe experiencing violence in their lifetimes. Worldwide, most violence against women is committed by a current or former intimate partner, leading some to warn that there is in fact no place less safe for a woman than in her own home.

Tạo cơ hội việc làm để trao quyền và nâng cao năng lực cho phụ nữ tại Việt Nam

Tháng 8/2015, tôi cùng đồng nghiệp đến An Giang thăm các đối tượng hưởng lợi của một dự án sáng tạo giúp 200 phụ nữ dân tộc Chăm học nghề thêu. Những phụ nữ này có thể tự tạo thu nhập bằng cách bán sản phẩm thêu của mình. Chúng tôi cảm thấy rất ấn tượng trước sự thay đổi tích cực mà khoản đầu tư nhỏ của dự án đã mang lại cho những phụ nữ này và gia đình họ. Hơn 2 triệu đàn ông Việt sẽ không tìm được vợ trong tương lai

VE – Dự báo đến năm 2050 khoảng 2,3 đến 4,3 triệu nam giới Việt Nam không thể tìm được vợ để kết hôn do tình trạng mất cân bằng giới tính sinh trai nhiều hơn gái hiện nay.

Tình trạng mất cân bằng giới tính khi sinh ở Việt Nam hiện đáng báo động. Tới 55 trong số 63 tỉnh thành có tỷ lệ giới tính khi sinh hơn 108 bé trai trên 100 bé gái. Tình trạng này tăng cao trong những năm gần đây. Năm 2014, tỷ số này ở mức 112,2 bé trai trên 100 bé gái và có xu hướng tiếp tục gia tăng. Số lượng tỉnh có tỷ lệ giới tính nam khi sinh từ 115 trở lên tăng từ 10 tỉnh thành vào năm 2009 lên 16 vào năm 2014.

Women’s Leadership — Be Part of the Solution!

Việt Nam đã có nhiều bước tiến trong quá trình phát triển và liên kết với các đối tác, với những thành tựu to lớn trong lĩnh vực giáo dục và chăm sóc sức khỏe. Hiện nay đất nước đang phải đối mặt với những thách thức mới. Tỉ lệ phụ nữ trong các cấp ra quyết định còn thấp và Việt Nam cần sự tham gia của phụ nữ trong quá trình xây dựng tương lai cho đất nước. Đoạn phim này kêu gọi hành động khuyến khích phụ nữ tham gia vào các quá trình ra quyết định, với mục tiêu đạt 50% số phụ nữ trong danh sách bầu cử, và ít nhất 35% được bầu.

Strengthening Women’s Land Rights in Vietnam

ICRW – It is very promising to see gender being included in important discussions around land policy. While we have made great strides incorporating gender perspective in this sector, much more work needs to be done to address the unique challenges and barriers women face that prevent them equal access to land and resources.

Last week, I had the honor to participate in the Annual World Bank Conference on Land and Poverty, which brings representatives from governments, civil society, the private sector and development community to foster a dialogue and share best practices to improving land governance. At the conference, I presented initial findings from an innovative project, which is developing and training teams of grassroots legal advisors to help women farmers in Vietnam realize their land rights. I just spent two days in Tokyo at the World Assembly of Women sponsored by the Government of Japan. One of the issues I spoke on was the importance of sanitation, with a particular focus on the needs of #women and #girls.

UN – “Trao quyền cho phụ nữ- Trao quyền cho nhân loại” là chiến dịch kéo dài một năm (2014-2015) hướng tới lễ kỷ niệm 20 năm Cương Lĩnh Hành Động Bắc Kinh, một trong những văn kiện toàn diện nhất về các vấn đề liên quan tới phụ nữ và bình đẳng giới mà thế giới được chứng kiến.

Tại Việt Nam, chúng tôi kêu gọi phụ nữ và đàn ông, Chính phủ và các đối tác liên quan cùng tôn vinh những thành tựu về thúc đẩy quyền của phụ nữ trong suốt 20 năm qua. Thông qua các đối thoại mở, chúng tôi muốn lắng nghe ý kiến của các bạn về những thành công đạt được cũng như tìm kiếm giải pháp cho những vấn đề còn tồn tại. TOKYO (VNS) — National Assembly Vice-Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan discussed Viet Nam’s efforts to promote gender equality and women’s wide-ranging participation in social life at the closing ceremony of the World Assembly for Women (WAW!) in Tokyo on Saturday.

In her speech, she told participants that Viet Nam had actively implemented the National Strategy on Gender Equality for 2011-2020.

She praised the WAW! 2015 as a significant event demonstrating the Japanese Government’s interest in encouraging women’s higher social involvement.

The two-day WAW! event, the second of its kind held in Japan, attracted the participation of about 1,300 delegates, including 140 leaders from 40 countries, territories and international organisations.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe sent a message praising societies where women shone and held positions of leadership, and encouraged women’s active participation in various aspects of life.

He also pledged that Japan would spend more than US$347 million in official development assistance over the next three years to promote women’s role throughout the world. — VNS
