HÀ NỘI – National Assembly deputies urged the Government to continue to clamp down on illegal deforestation during a discussion on the country’s draft revision to the Law on Forest Protection and Development on Tuesday afternoon.

HÀ NỘI – The Mekong Delta province of Hậu Giang has been urged to establish a community-based monitoring mechanism to evaluate papermaker Lee & Man Vietnam Ltd.’s environmental treatment.During a visit to the company’s paper mill on Thursday, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Trần Hồng Hà, asked the papermaker to complete a standard procedure for management and operation of its waste treatment, and to keep daily records of materials used for environmental treatment and to publicise them. Rồi sẽ đến lúc, khái niệm “lũ lịch sử” không còn phù hợp để các chuyên gia làm mốc so sánh về mức độ nguy hiểm của lũ, vì càng ngày lũ không còn tuân theo những quy luật thông thường, và mức độ mỗi ngày một lớn hơn bội phần.

TTO – Nhiều năm tham gia chỉ đạo phòng chống lụt bão, tôi ít thấy sau đợt áp thấp nhiệt đới nào có hậu quả nặng nề về người như lần này.
Thường chỉ sau bão thì hoàn lưu mới lớn, nhưng lần này sau áp thấp nhiệt đới thì mưa lớn, lũ lớn, thiệt hại lớn, đây là chuyện phải nghiêm túc xem xét lại.
Thứ nhất, từ thiệt hại nặng nề lần này, từ kinh nghiệm phòng chống thiên tai nhiều năm, có vấn đề rất lớn từ quản lý, đó là chuyện quy hoạch dân cư đã bị xáo trộn rất nhiều, mà chủ yếu xáo trộn theo hướng không tuân thủ quy định của những khu vực phải phòng chống lũ.
