Israeli state exceptionalism and comparisons of its Palestinians victims to “Nazis” are used to “justify, rationalize, deny, distort, disavow mass violence against Palestinians,” says Segal.
Wives suffer one-sided marriages with ‘man-child’ husbands

In the middle of washing her hair, Ngoc Trang had to run out of the shower to check on her crying baby while her husband played video games on the couch.
The 24-year-old woman living in Cau Giay District, Hanoi, said that for the past four months, she’s only managed to sleep three hours a night because she has no help caring for her child during late-night crying fits.
Instead of helping her look after the baby, her husband has been constantly occupied with his games and phone. Every time she has asked for his assistance, he has used the excuse that he had to wake up early for work.
“He sulks at me when I complain about his carelessness. In the end, I had to console both him and the baby to get some peace,” Trang said.
After being in a relationship for three years, Trang decided to marry her current husband at the beginning of 2022 not only because of his stable income, but because she had thought he was someone who was willing to share responsibilities with her.
However, after they married, he transformed into an entirely different person, she said. He left everything to her, from finding a place to rent to even when to have a baby. Whenever Trang asked his opinion about a decision, he would simply reply: “It’s up to you.”

GENEVA/PORT-AU-PRINCE (28 November 2023) – A new UN report out today details a further, shocking rise in gang violence in Haiti as criminal gangs forge alliances and expand to rural areas previously considered safe – killing, raping, kidnapping, and destroying property, among other abuses.
The report, released by the UN Human Rights Office and the UN Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), calls for the urgent deployment of the Multinational Security Support mission authorized by the UN Security Council in October, in accordance with international human rights norms and standards. Increased efforts will need to be deployed to strengthen Haiti’s rule of law institutions, in particular the police, the judiciary, and the prison system, the report notes.

It has long been claimed that in prehistoric times men were hunters while women were gatherers.

Many of the world’s healthcare systems are male-centred, rooted in patriarchal concepts and gender bias. From women’s access to healthcare being contingent on the willingness or financial capability of male relatives, to the exclusion of women in clinical trials, to the dismissal of women’s medical concerns and decisions about their own health and bodies, misogyny is prevalent in modern medicine, often resulting in misdiagnoses and even death. The issue of what’s now called obstetric violence has emerged, as more female patients speak out about their mistreatment and abuse by medical practitioners, particularly around the vulnerable time of childbirth.
The World Health Organization describes obstetric violence as “abuse, disrespect and mistreatment in childbirth that result in violations of women’s dignity by health professionals”.
But while awareness of medical misogyny is growing, many cultural, social, and legal barriers prevent its complete eradication.

That’s the verdict of co-founder of The Intercept Jeremy Scahill, who looked back into U.S. President Joe Biden’s political career and identified the key moments where he defended Israel’s alleged war crimes, from back in the 1980s to present day.
Biden has been in public office for 50 years, and during that time he has been one of Israel’s biggest defenders, even when the country has killed civilians.
Scahill argues that U.S. weapons and money have enabled Israel’s attacks on Gaza and that the more than 4,700 children killed “should be a permanent stain” on Biden’s legacy.

Child marriage could be history by 2030, or last 300 more years
By age 18 years, Lalitbai was a married mother of three children. She became a child bride when she was 13 years old. At age 32 years, Lalitbai was a widow and cast out of her extended family. With no money or education, she worked tirelessly as a day labourer, eventually starting her own small bakery. She now speaks openly, with neighbours and in local gatherings, about stopping child marriage. Lalitbai lives in India, the country with the largest number of child brides worldwide.
Yet India is also making progress in reducing child marriage. According to UNICEF’s Is an End to Child Marriage within Reach? Latest Trends and Future Prospects, 2023 Update, released on May 3, 2023, since 2012, the percentage of young women aged 20–24 years who were married as children worldwide has fallen from 23% to 19%, and a substantial portion of this progress is driven by reductions in India.
In the past decade the prevalence of child marriage in this country has declined from 38% to 23%.
