TTO – Thiên nhiên ưu đãi, sông nước hữu tình, miệt vườn trù phú, nhưng du lịch miền Tây Nam Bộ vẫn đang phát triển èo uột, lượng du khách đến và lưu trú tại các địa phương trong khu vực này rất khiêm tốn.

While tourists have flocked to Ha Long Bay to admire the heavenly and distinctive karst topography for many years, Ha Long City has always lacked cultural events, modern entertainment and attractive beaches to prolong the duration of their visits.
But that’s finally changing thanks to a major makeover that’s transformed the city’s image.
A natural wonder of the world
When Ha Long Bay was recognized as world nature heritage by UNESCO in 1994, local people in Ha Long city and Quang Ninh province imagined a bright future for their homeland’s tourism industry. Each year, the city started to see millions of tourists from all over the world, but very few actually stayed in Ha Long City. Both domestic and international tourists were coming to see Ha Long Bay, considered to be a ‘natural wonder of the world’, a place where you ‘must see in your lifetime’.

In May when the sound of cicadas signals the advent of summer, giant purple crape-myrtle flowers (known as bang lang) bloom in many streets of Hanoi.
Despite blooming for a short time, the bright purple of this kind of flower brings a poetic beauty to the capital in the early summer days.

Returning to Canada after a trip to Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam in 2005, David Hutt, an Australian businessman, decided to come back to the beautiful island with his family members to enjoy the white sand and blue sea, the palm trees covering part of the beach, and red-earth trails.
But he was disappointed when he returned three years ago. The natural beauty no longer existed. What he saw was a large construction site with hundreds of migrant laborers working day and night for a resort project. The number of foreign holidaymakers to Vietnam in the first four months of 2019 is estimated at nearly 6 million, a 7.6% increase from the same period last year, Zing reported, citing the Vietnam National Adiministration of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The decision by Quang Binh provincial authorities to reject the cable car project at Song Doong Cave has been applauded by the public.
Experts in recent years have repeatedly warned of ‘landscape pollution’ because of mass tourism, saying that bad behavior towards the landscape and heritage sites are harming cultural values, and in the long term, killing the tourism industry.
