U.S. industrial companies General Electric Co (GE.N) and Caterpillar Inc (CAT.N) made deals with Vietnam worth billions of dollars as Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc continued his three-day trip to the United States.

Phuc’s trip included a meeting with President Donald Trump Wednesday afternoon at the White House as well as the signing of deals with U.S. companies for high-tech goods and services worth $15 billion to $17 billion when GE and Caterpillar are included. Emirates airline has waded into a decades-old diplomatic spat after ordering Taiwanese cabin crew to swap flag pins worn on their uniforms for Chinese ones, sparking anger and calls for boycott on social media.

MARAWI CITY, Philippines: Dozens of foreign jihadis have fought side-by-side with Islamic State sympathizers against security forces in the southern Philippines over the past week, evidence that the restive region is fast becoming an Asian hub for the ultra-radical group.

Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani has condemned the “cowardly” truck bomb attack that ripped through the heart of Kabul’s diplomatic district, killing at least 90 people and wounding hundreds.

The powerful explosion on Wednesday was described by officials as “one of the biggest” to have hit the Afghan capital.

The UN on Tuesday appointed a three-member team to investigate alleged abuses by security forces against Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

The fact-finding mission will be led by prominent Indian lawyer Indira Jaising, Sri Lankan lawyer Radhika Coomaraswamy, and Australian human rights consultant Christopher Dominic Sidoti, according to a statement from the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) on Tuesday. Lobsters die en masse in Vietnam’s south-central bay, oxygen depletion suspected

Over 10,000 lobsters raised in Xuan Dai Bay in south-central Phu Yen Province have been found dead over the past two days, with oxygen depletion likely to be the cause.

The aquatic hypoxia might have been the result of long days of sun followed by a sudden downpour on Wednesday afternoon, a local leader said.

Korean bank pledges $233mn loan for Ho Chi Minh City airport metro

The Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) has promised to provide US$233.3 million in official development assistance (ODA) for Ho Chi Minh City to build a metro line connecting to Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

Metro line 4 b-1 will run over two kilometers from the Lang Cha Ca Intersection to Tan Son Nhat Airport in Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City.
