Ông Vũ Hồng Thanh, Chủ nhiệm Ủy ban Kinh tế, nhận xét tình hình đang khó khăn và quý II khó có đột phá về tăng trưởng.

Nhận định này được Ủy ban Kinh tế nêu khi thẩm tra báo cáo của Chính phủ kết quả bổ sung phát triển kinh tế xã hội năm 2022; thực hiện các tháng đầu năm 2023, tại phiên khai mạc Quốc hội sáng 22/5.

Ông Vũ Hồng Thanh, Chủ nhiệm Ủy ban Kinh tế, cho biết kinh tế có dấu hiệu xấu đi từ cuối năm 2022, kéo dài sang đầu năm 2023, kết quả là tăng trưởng GDP quý I chỉ tăng 3,32%. Để đạt mục tiêu tăng trưởng 6,5% năm nay, bình quân mỗi quý còn lại năm nay phải tăng khoảng 7,5%.

Những khó khăn trên thị trường tài chính, trái phiếu doanh nghiệp khiến doanh nghiệp khó tiếp cận và hầu như không huy động được vốn, dẫn tới bất động sản “đóng băng”. Các động lực chính của tăng trưởng như xuất khẩu, đầu tư trực tiếp nước ngoài, nhất là sản xuất công nghiệp giảm, trên đà suy yếu.

“Nền kinh tế thực sự rất khó khăn”, ông nói.

Nhà gỗ của ông Nguyễn Văn Quyến, nguyên Phó giám đốc Cty TNHH MTV Lâm nghiệp Cư M’lan, nay là Phó tổng giám đốc Cty Chế biến thực phẩm, lâm nghiệp Đắk Lắk nổi tiếng ở tỉnh Đắk Lắk. Hiện ông Quyến đang sở hữu 2 căn nhà gỗ “khủng” ở địa bàn thị trấn Ea Súp (huyện Ea Súp). Ông Quyến từng bị kỷ luật cảnh cáo vì những sai phạm liên quan đến công tác quản lý bảo vệ rừng, để mất hơn 10.500 ha rừng và đất rừng trong lâm phần được giao quản lý và bảo vệ

The EU just passed a historic anti-deforestation law. Now it needs to go after the banks

Governments from across the European Union today adopted a historic new law which will ensure that a raft of commodities linked to deforestation and forest degradation won’t be able to enter the EU market unless proven to be sustainably sourced. 

The green light from EU national governments means that by end of next year, imports of palm oil, cattle, soy, coffee, cocoa, timber and rubber will have to comply with strict traceability obligations and evidence must show that they have not been grown on deforested or degraded land.

It’s the first law of its kind in the world, and a historic blueprint for the approaches that other markets should look at to help preserve the world’s forests – which are essential in the fight against climate breakdown and biodiversity loss.

Now the first milestone towards deforestation-free supply chains has been achieved, it’s time to ensure that the European Union can fully end its role in forest destruction – which means cutting the money pipeline to deforesting businesses.  This is the final piece of the puzzle.

Vietnam’s timber legality program not making a dent in risky wood imports

  • Despite new regulations to clean up Vietnam’s timber sector, importers continue to bring large volumes of tropical hardwood into the country from deforestation hotspots in Africa and Asia for use in products sold domestically.
  • In 2018, Vietnam signed a Voluntary Partnership Agreement with the EU to eliminate illegal timber from the country’s supply chains and boost access to the strictly regulated European markets.
  • However, importers say the new legality requirements introduced in 2020 to verify the legitimacy of timber brought into the country are “too confusing,” and customs data indicate few signs of a reduction in high-risk timber imports from countries including Cambodia, Cameroon, Gabon, Laos and Papua New Guinea.
  • Although Vietnamese authorities are taking steps to improve the situation, meaningful change is expected to take time; a switch by domestic consumers to products that use sustainable, locally grown timber instead of imported tropical hardwoods could solve many underlying problems, experts say.

  1. We, the Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7), met in Hiroshima for our annual Summit on May 19-21, 2023, more united than ever in our determination to meet the global challenges of this moment and set the course for a better future. Our work is rooted in respect for the Charter of the United Nations (UN) and international partnership.

We are taking concrete steps to:

  • support Ukraine for as long as it takes in the face of Russia’s illegal war of aggression;
  • strengthen disarmament and non-proliferation efforts, towards the ultimate goal of a world without nuclear weapons with undiminished security for all;
  • coordinate our approach to economic resilience and economic security that is based on diversifying and deepening partnerships and de-risking, not de-coupling;
  • drive the transition to clean energy economies of the future through cooperation within and beyond the G7;
  • launch the Hiroshima Action Statement for Resilient Global Food Security with partner countries to address needs today and into the future; and
  • deliver our goal of mobilizing $600 billion in financing for quality infrastructure through the Partnership for Global Infrastructure Investment (PGII)

as outlined in the reference documents of this Communique.

Nguồn lợi thủy sản đang dần cạn kiệt. Số lượng tàu thuyền ven bờ quá lớn cần phải giảm xuống, để đáp ứng yêu cầu của Ủy ban châu Âu EC về thẻ vàng thủy sản. Việc phát triển nuôi biển đang trở thành xu hướng tất yếu. Trong đó, việc khai thác và nuôi trồng rong biển được đánh giá có nhiều tiềm năng. Tuy nhiên, thực tế việc phát triển ngành rong biển ở các địa phương miền Trung còn khá nhiều bất cập.

Ở khu vực Trung Bộ được đánh giá có dư địa với tiềm năng phát triển rong biển khá lớn, kéo dài từ Quảng Ngãi đến Bình Thuận. Tuy nhiên, hiện khu vực này chưa phát triển xứng với tiềm năng như ở Phú Yên hiện diện tích trồng rong biển mới có 3,7ha, trong đó chủ yếu là rong nho.

(PLO)- Đã có khoảng 50% doanh nghiệp dệt may Việt Nam rời khỏi cuộc chơi do không xanh hóa chuỗi sản xuất và cung ứng.

Số liệu thống kê từ Hiệp hội Dệt may Việt Nam (VITAS) cho thấy tổng kim ngạch xuất khẩu hàng dệt may trong ba tháng đầu năm nay chỉ đạt hơn 8,7 tỉ USD, giảm gần 19% so với cùng kỳ năm ngoái. Hiện ngành dệt may Việt Nam đang đối mặt với nhiều khó khăn khi lượng đơn hàng sụt giảm 30%-60% so với cùng kỳ.

Điều đáng chú ý là trong khi xuất khẩu dệt may Việt Nam sụt giảm mạnh khiến hàng loạt công ty lao đao thì dệt may một số nước vẫn “sống khỏe”.

During a ceremony held in Washington to commemorate the Lunar New Year in 2011, then–Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States Le Cong Phung surprised the audience by announcing that the two countries would raise their ties to the level of “strategic partnership.” Phrases describing partnerships can be nebulous, of course. But from what we know about Vietnamese diplomacy, Hanoi’s definition of strategic partnership is not just boilerplate, but signifies concrete, mutual, long-term strategic interests.

Vietnamese officials, however, never followed up on Phung’s newsworthy announcement. Instead, Washington and Hanoi announced a comprehensive partnership in 2013—a relationship that implies a less-serious geopolitical alignment for Vietnam. The United States has been left wondering why.

Emissions from Oil and Gas Operations in Net Zero Transitions

A World Energy Outlook Special Report on the Oil and Gas Industry and COP28

Today, oil and gas operations account for around 15% of total energy-related emissions globally, the equivalent of 5.1 billion tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions. In the International Energy Agency’s Net Zero Emissions by 2050 Scenario, the emissions intensity of these activities falls by 50% by the end of the decade. Combined with the reductions in oil and gas consumption in this scenario, this results in a 60% reduction in emissions from oil and gas operations to 2030.

Fortunately, oil and gas producers have a clear opportunity to address the problem of emissions from their activities through a series of ready-to-implement and costeffective measures. These include tackling methane emissions, eliminating all non-emergency flaring, electrifying upstream facilities with low-emissions electricity, equipping oil and gas processes with carbon capture, utilisation and storage technologies, and expanding the use of hydrogen from low-emissions electrolysis in refineries.

Upfront investments totalling USD 600 billion would be required to halve the emissions intensity of oil and gas operations globally by 2030. This is only a fraction of the record windfall income that oil and gas producers accrued in 2022 – a year of soaring energy prices amid a global energy crisis. This report aims to inform discussions on these issues in the run-up to the COP28 Climate Change Conference in Dubai in November and is part of a broader World Energy Outlook special report to be released later in 2023 focusing on the role of the oil and gas industry in net zero transitions.
