​Vietnamese man probed for stealing $26,000 in credit card theft
An employee of a restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City has been probed for stealing Visa card information of a Japanese customer and appropriating nearly VND600 million (US$26,460).

In November 2016 a Japanese director of a company based in the Mekong Delta province of Long An, complained to local police that his Visa account had been used to complete many unusual payments in the first ten months of that year. Thailand to ban smoking at 20 popular beaches: Report

Thailand plans to impose a smoking ban on 20 of its popular tourist beaches across the country, including those in Phuket and Krabi, the Bangkok Post reported on Tuesday (Oct 10).

Community tourism brings changes to mountainous area

Community-based tourism has brought many changes to the lives of residents in Da Bac district, one of the most disadvantaged localities in the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh.

Hoa Binh, about 70km northwest of Hanoi, is home to several ethnic groups, including Muong, Thai, Dao and Tay. Of the total population, 60 percent belong to the Muong group.

Quang Binh authorities have finally approved a plan to install a ladder inside the north-central province’s famous Son Doong Cave, allowing tourists to explore through out the world’s biggest natural cave instead of returning to exit after reaching its end.

With about 2.3 million hectares of special use forests (SUF), 31 national parks and 68 natural reserves, and dozens of other forests, Việt Nam is seen as a prime eco-tourism destination.
