I have worked as an anti-trust attorney for Federal Trade Commission and a litigator for a fortune-100 telecom company in Washington DC.
I have taught law courses for legal professionals in Việt Nam and still counsel VN government agencies on legal matters.
I have founded and managed businesses for me and my family, both law and non-law.
I have published many articles on national newspapers and radio stations in Việt Nam.
In 1989 I was one of the founding members of US-VN Trade Council, working to re-establish US-VN relationship.
Since the early 90's, I have established and managed VNFORUM and VNBIZ forum on VN-related matters; these forums are the subject of a PhD thesis by Dr. Caroline Valverde at UC-Berkeley and her book Transnationalizing Viet Nam.
I translate poetry and my translation of "A Request at Đồng Lộc Cemetery" is now engraved on a stone memorial at Đồng Lộc National Shrine in VN.
I study and teach the Bible and Buddhism. In 2009 I founded and still manage dotchuoinon.com on positive thinking and two other blogs on Buddhism.
In 2015 a group of friends and I founded website CVD - Conversations on Vietnam Development (cvdvn.net).
I study the art of leadership with many friends who are religious, business and government leaders from many countries.

Vietnam Communist Party Expels Academic Over Facebook Posts
HANOI (REUTERS) – A Vietnamese academic has been expelled from the ruling Communist Party for posting comments on Facebook deemed to be critical of the party, the government said on Friday.
Tran Duc Anh Son, deputy head of the Danang Institute for Socio-Economic Development, was accused of “writing Facebook posts that were untrue and went against the party’s views and state policies and laws,” the government said in a statement.

Chánh án TANDTC Nguyễn Hòa Bình vừa ký ban hành Quyết định số 199/QĐ-CA ngày 17/10/2018 về công bố 11 án lệ đã được Hội đồng Thẩm phán TANDTC thông qua ngày 17/10/2018.
Áp dụng kể từ ngày 3/12/2018
Ngày 17/10/2018, Hội đồng Thẩm phán TANDTC đã thảo luận về 17 bản án, quyết định được đề xuất, lựa chọn làm án lệ. Sau khi thảo luận, đánh giá, phân tích một cách chi tiết đối với từng quyết định giám đốc thẩm được đề xuất, Hội đồng Thẩm phán TANDTC đã quyết định chọn 11/17 quyết định giám đốc thẩm làm án lệ. Trong đó có 4 án lệ về hình sự, 7 án lệ về dân sự, kinh doanh thương mại và lao động.
Theo Quyết định của Chánh án TANDTC, các Tòa án nhân dân và Tòa án quân sự có trách nhiệm nghiên cứu, áp dụng án lệ này trong xét xử kể từ ngày 3/12/2018.
