China has launched its first domestically made aircraft carrier, in a demonstration of the growing technical sophistication of its defence industries.
The 50,000-tonne carrier was towed from its dockyard on Wednesday morning after a ceremony in the northern port city of Dalian.

VietNamNet Bridge – In 2016, when agriculture suffered from drought, low production and low yield, which led to a negative growth rate, the lowest since 2011, experts said that Vietnam’s agriculture needed critical reform.
At a working session earlier this year in the northern province of Ha Nam, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that Vietnam needs to shift from ‘untied agriculture’ into ‘tectonic agriculture’.Government officials and experts have recently mentioned the farmland limit policy as a barrier to large-scale agriculture production which hinders development.

Vietnam province requests relocation of 20,000 houses over riverbank collapse

Authorities in the southern Vietnamese province of An Giang have requested the relocation of 20,000 households due to the threat of increasingly serious subsidence along local rivers.
A delegation from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment convened a working session with authorities in An Giang on Tuesday evening, discussing the collapse of the Vam Nao riverbank that sunk at least 14 houses last weekend.

Victim’s family cause chaos at public apology for wrongfully convicted man in Hanoi

Chaos erupted in Hanoi on Tuesday at the public apology of a man who had been wrongfully convicted of child rape and murder, with the victim’s family staging a violent protest.
A ceremony was held by the People’s High Court of Hanoi to apologize to Han Duc Long, a man it had sentenced to death for the alleged rape and murder of a little girl.
Long served 11 years in jail during lengthy court trials and appeals that followed the controversial conviction, before finally being set free last December after courts ruled that the case against him lacked sufficient incriminating evidence.
