Sau hơn 6 năm bị vướng bẫy rồi được Trung tâm bảo tồn Voi cùng Vườn quốc gia Yok Đôn phối hợp cứu hộ, chăm sóc vết thương để thả về rừng, voi Cu Sứt gần đây đã trở lại vùng rừng khộp giữa 2 tỉnh Đắk Lắk-Đắk Nông, vẫn với cái chân đau vẫn chưa lành. Trung tâm bảo tồn voi Đắk Lắk đã lên kế hoạch lần thứ 2 cứu hộ chú voi hoang dã.

ĐẮK LẮK — As of this month, Yok Đôn National Park will no longer offer elephant riding for tourists visiting the Central Highland province of Đắk Lắk.

Under an agreement signed by the national park and Animals Asia Foundation on Friday, the park committed to develop an alternative tourism activity designed around watching elephants in social groups within an elephant sanctuary. The deforestation was brought to the notice of the board on January 26 after patrol officers of forestry protection office No 8, under the Yok Đôn National Park, came across 45cu.m of deforested land for timber, Phạm Tuấn Linh, acting director of the management board, told dantri.com.vn online newspaper.

Viet Nam News ĐỒNG NAI Wild elephant habitats in the southern province of  Đồng Nai are being reduced and degraded, leading to a lack of food and more conflicts between animals and humans, according to local authorities.

Experts say the elephant requires a vast habitat but its living space has been shrunk due to human encroachment into the forest.
