Viet Nam News ĐÀ NẴNG — The Communist Party of Việt Nam (CPV) and the Vietnamese Government treasure the comprehensive strategic partnership with China, considering it a consistent policy, a strategic choice and a top priority in Việt Nam’s foreign policy, said Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc.

Five Vietnamese fishermen have pled not guilty following their capture by Indonesian authorities for illegally fishing in Indonesian waters.

A flotilla of five fishing boats from the southern Vietnamese province of Kien Giang was operating near Hon Khoai Island off the southern province of Ca Mau on April 13 when they were apprehended by Indonesian vessels.

HÀ NỘI – The National Assembly discussed the draft revised Law on Fisheries at its plenary session in Hà Nội yesterday.

Several lawmakers stressed the need to establish centrally-run, municipal and provincial fisheries surveillance systems to ensure fisheries law enforcement and defend sovereignty over waters.

SEOUL: South Korea and the United States began week-long joint Navy drills in the waters around the Korean peninsula on Monday (Oct 16), amid high tensions over North Korea’s nuclear and missile programme.

About 40 Navy ships from both countries, including the nuclear-powered USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier, are taking part in the exercises on the east and west coasts of the peninsula from Oct 16 to Oct 20, a spokesman for the South’s defence ministry said on Monday. SEOUL: The U.S. military flew two Air Force B-1B Lancer bombers over the Korean peninsula in a show of force late on Tuesday amid high tensions over North Korea’s nuclear and missile programmes, South Korea’s military said.

239 freed fishermen back home tomorrow

JAKARTA — The 239 Vietnamese fishermen freed by Indonesia are set to return home tomorrow.

A Vietnam News Agency report said yesterday that the Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia had worked with competent localities authorities to complete procedures for repatriating the fishermen.
