Antiques in the basement of National Assembly House

Over 400 artifacts and almost 10 relics, restored with 3D technology, reflecting the history of 1,300 years of continuous development of Viet Nam, through periods of Dai La, Dinh, Ly, Tran, Le, are on show at the National Assembly (NA) House’s two basement levels.
Covering an area of 3,700 m2 in the NA’s two basement levels, the exhibits are displayed in an archaeological stratigraphic principle (chronological order). Highlights and historical stories featured in each display detail the cultural value of the heritage during that period of time.

Discovering Bau Truc pottery village

Pottery art in Bau Truc Village in Phuoc Dan Commune, Ninh Phuoc District, Ninh Thuan Province has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The pottery village has some 400 households making pottery goods, representing 70% of the total Cham population in the area.

Despite many ups and downs, the Cham people have handed down their pottery making techniques from generation to generation.

The village captures the attention of many tourists, and has more than 600 workers with incomes of VND3 million to VND4 million.

Wood carving and painting is a profession with a long tradition in Vietnamese culture. In its long history of development, crimson and gilded objects with fine carvings, red paint, and sparkling gold, not only reflect the aesthetics and skills of craftsmen but also express historical values of Vietnamese culture.

The Vietnam National Museum of History is organising an exhibition showcasing more than 100 lacquered and gilded wooden artifacts, selected from its collection of woodworks that have been studied, collected and preserved for many years by the museum.

Crimson and gilded wooden treasures are not only historical stories, but also artworks expressing the aesthetic thought and talent of artisans, containing ideals from history, art, customs, religion and beliefs of Vietnamese people. Viet Nam News KHÁNH HÒA — The 2017 Nha Trang Sea Festival, themed “Extending the Circle of Friendship”, opened Saturday night in the central province of Khánh Hòa, with a wide array of artistic, cultural and sporting activities.

Vietnam – Asia silk festival to take place in Hoi An

The Vietnam – Asia silk culture festival is scheduled to run in Hoi An silk village in the central province of Quang Nam between June 11 and 14.

The event aims at promoting and preserving the value of traditional silk villages across Vietnam, including Van Phuc (Hanoi), Hoi An and Ma Chau (Quang Nam), and Bao Loc (the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong), among others.

Lying on the banks of Red River, Kim Lan pottery village in Gia Lam district, Hanoi has a more than 1,000 year-history of making of ceramics.


The craft reached its peak around the 13th and 14th centuries, making the village a pottery production centre for the capital city of Thang Long (now Hanoi). Young entrepreneurs have come up with a creative way to have visitors to Hoi An City take part of its famous nipa palm forest home as souvenirs, Hoai Nam reports

Trương Tấn Thọ, 39, earns a living making traditional paper.

Apart from the famous dó (poonah) paper, his firm in Hoi An City, called Giấy Việt (Vietnamese paper), also makes paper from the pulp of bamboo and mulberry trees.

A few years ago, Thọ hit up on the idea of using the stems of the nipa palm (called water coconut in Viet Nam), found in profusion in the area, to make paper and paper products, using the know-how he had acquired in making traditional paper with local materials.
