Đó là tên cuốn phóng sự ảnh mà giáo sư Nishimura Yoichi người Nhật Bản gửi tặng cho tôi. Cuốn sách dày gần 500 trang được in ba ngôn ngữ Anh, Nhật, Việt với hàng ngàn bức ảnh chân thực ghi lại hậu quả thảm khốc của cuộc chiến tranh hóa học do Mỹ gây ra trong cuộc chiến tranh ở Việt Nam.

Vị giáo sư 75 tuổi này đã từ lâu gắn bó với Việt Nam. Vợ chồng ông đã đến Làng hòa bình Từ Dũ tại Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh và ở đây nhiều năm. Ông đã dùng tiền lương hưu của mình để tặng quà cho những trẻ em khuyết tật bị nhiễm chất độc da cam/dioxin. Ông đã đi khắp dải đất hình chữ S suốt 63 tỉnh, thành để gặp gỡ, thăm hỏi, chia sẻ và ghi lại hàng ngàn bức ảnh chân thật, đời thường, sinh động của những nạn nhân CĐDC khuyết tật. Vietnam Boy: US ambassador raps to celebrate Tet

Ambassador Daniel Kritenbrink collaborated with Vietnamese rapper Wowy to make a song about the Lunar New Year vibe in Vietnam.

Throughout the song, the ambassador raps several Vietnamese lines to wish people a peaceful new lunar year.

He also lists what should be done throughout Tet in Vietnamese traditions, including preparing the yellow mai and peach plants, of which flowers are signature for home decoration during Tet in Vietnam, cleaning up the house to welcome guests, and giving li xi (lucky money) to children.

He ends the video with the line saying “Tet den roi” which means Tet has arrived.

This is the Ambassador’s fourth Tet in Vietnam, and he has always enjoyed this time of year. “Tet gives us an opportunity to slow down, reconnect with loved ones, and reflect on the passing year while looking ahead to the coming year,” said the U.S. Consulate General in HCMC.

“Our two countries cooperate closely on everything from security, trade, and education, to war legacies, energy, and health, and now we can add music to the list,” it added.

Tet is what Vietnamese calls Lunar New Year, which is so far the nation’s biggest holiday and most important occasion for family reunion.

TTCT – Đây là lời của luật sư William Bourdon, một trong ba luật sư người Pháp (cùng Bertrand Repolt, Amélie Lefebvre), đã đồng hành cùng bà Trần Tố Nga trong 10 năm bà đi tìm công lý. Họ sẽ bảo vệ bà trong phiên tòa sắp tới (ngày 25-1-2021 tại Pháp), cáo buộc 26 công ty hóa chất Mỹ về hành vi diệt chủng môi trường (écocide) trong cuộc chiến tranh ở Việt Nam.

As the incoming Biden administration formulates its South China Sea strategy, one regional partner that looms large is Vietnam. Over the last few years, tensions between China and Vietnam in the South China Sea have remained high, impacting fishing and natural resource exploration in disputed waters. While the Biden administration is likely to continue the positive momentum in bilateral ties, it is less clear what specifically Hanoi seeks from Washington to help it effectively deter Beijing.

My Lai Massacre, đó là cụm từ phía Mỹ lưu trong hồ sơ vụ thảm sát Mỹ Lai tại xã Tịnh Khê, TP Quảng Ngãi vào ngày 16/3/1968. Một nhân chứng sống sót được báo chí quốc tế và trong nước không ngừng nhắc tên là Đỗ Ba.

Nhưng còn một Đỗ Ba khác thì sống đời ẩn dật, vào định cư ở Trại phong Quy Hòa, tỉnh Bình Định, sau đó qua đời. Đầu tháng 9/2020, người con trai Đỗ Ba đột ngột gọi ra Đà Nẵng và nói giọng buồn bã: “Xin chú tìm giúp một nơi nương náu cho người em trai, xin chú giúp đỡ…!”. Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and United States National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien discussed the two countries’ bilateral relationship in Hanoi on Saturday.

The meeting was convened within the framework of O’Brien’s visit to Vietnam on November 20-22, which is conducted on the occasion of the two nations’ 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

The relationship has seen comprehensive and practical development, which significantly contributes to regional and global security, peace, cooperation and development, PM Phuc said at the talk.

He would meet leaders in both countries “to reaffirm the strength of our bilateral relationships,” it tweeted on Thursday.

Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswomen Le Thi Thu Hang said at a press meet the same day that O’Brien will be in Vietnam from Friday to Sunday for high-level meetings to discuss bilateral relations and regional and international issues that concern both Vietnam and the U.S.

Một bước tiến trong vụ kiện của bà Trần Tố Nga

Ngày 29/6, Tòa án Evry của Pháp đã ra một thông báo mới về vụ kiện của bà Trần Tố Nga, theo đó quá trình tiến hành các phiên thủ tục sẽ kết thúc vào ngày 28/9/2020 và ngày 12/10/2020 sẽ tiến hành phiên tranh tụng để xét xử vụ kiện.

Như mọi người đã biết, ngày 14/5/2014, bà Trần Tố Nga, một Việt kiều sống ở Pháp từ năm 1993 đến nay, đệ đơn lên Tòa Đại hình ở Evry kiện 26 công ty hóa chất của Mỹ đã cung cấp chất độc hóa học cho quân đội Mỹ sử dụng trong chiến tranh ở Việt Nam, làm cho bà bị nhiễm độc, bị nhiều căn bệnh nguy hiểm, làm cho con gái đầu của bà bị di nhiễm nên đã chết lúc 17 tháng tuổi, con gái thứ hai bị bệnh Alpha Thalassemia (thiếu máu huyết tán). HIROSHIMA—Kunihiko Iida wants the world to know that the atomic bombs the United States dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki 75 years ago next month are still claiming lives and causing suffering.

Iida was 3 years old in August 1945. His father had died in battle; he was living with his mother and her parents in a house 900 meters from Hiroshima’s hypocenter, the spot right beneath the detonation. The blast crumpled the house. The family fled the city, but Iida’s mother and older sister soon died from their injuries, a fact the little boy didn’t grasp. “Until I entered elementary school, I thought they were living and that we would meet someday,” he says.

His injuries left him bedridden for years, and he has suffered debilitating illnesses ever since. Childhood anemia caused him to collapse at school. He’s had ulcers and asthma, underwent two surgeries to remove brain tumors, and now has thyroid growths. “There has never been a break in these illnesses,” he says. On the night of December 27, 1972 during the “Hanoi-Dien Bien Phu in the air” campaign, an American B-52 bomber was shot down by Vietnamese soldiers and part of it landed where it still remains today in Huu Tiep Lake in Ngoc Ha Ward, Ba Dinh District.
