Community tourism brings changes to mountainous area

Community-based tourism has brought many changes to the lives of residents in Da Bac district, one of the most disadvantaged localities in the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh.

Hoa Binh, about 70km northwest of Hanoi, is home to several ethnic groups, including Muong, Thai, Dao and Tay. Of the total population, 60 percent belong to the Muong group.

Quang Binh authorities have finally approved a plan to install a ladder inside the north-central province’s famous Son Doong Cave, allowing tourists to explore through out the world’s biggest natural cave instead of returning to exit after reaching its end.

Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — Instead of being wary about investors, tourism management authorities should collaborate with them in preserving the natural environment, says Dr Nguyễn Hoàng Trí, Secretary of the National Committee for UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB) in Việt Nam.

With about 2.3 million hectares of special use forests (SUF), 31 national parks and 68 natural reserves, and dozens of other forests, Việt Nam is seen as a prime eco-tourism destination.

Vietnamese researchers have spent years dedicating themselves to conserving the shrinking cajuput gene pool in the Mekong Delta province of Long An as a means of boosting economic and tourism growth.

Two Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper journalists recently paid a visit to the Dong Thap Muoi (Plain of Reeds) Herbal Medicine Research, Conservation and Development Center, approximately 50km from Tan An Town.

Green tea island in Nghe An lures visitors

A green tea island in Thanh Chuong District, central Nghe An province has recently become a destination attracting a large number of visitors.

“Green tea islets” are located alternately in Cau Cau dam in Thanh Thinh and Thanh An communes in the district. Visitors can get a sightseeing boat tour to have the best view of the attraction and take pictures.

Every tea islet covering an area of more than one hectare gives people a pure fresh atmosphere. When the boat arrive in the island, tourists can contemplate green tea gardens and enjoy tea in leaf huts.

Additionally, travelers can visit other beautiful landscapes, such as Coi Falls, Lua Falls, Dong Danh dam in neighboring areas.
