Nữ phát ngôn Bộ Ngoại giao của Việt Nam, bà Lê Thị Thu Hằng nói với báo chí chiều 28/07/2017 giờ Hà Nội, khẳng định rằng hoạt động dầu khí gần đây diễn ra tại khu vực ‘hoàn toàn thuộc chủ quyền’ Việt Nam ở Biển Đông.
Tuy không nói rõ vị trí của các điểm mà truyền thông nước ngoài cho là có hoạt động khai thác khí và khoan tìm dầu của Talisman – Vietnam thuộc công ty Tây Ban Nha Repsol, bà Lê Thu Hằng được trích lời nói:
“Hoạt động dầu khí liên quan của Việt Nam diễn ra tại khu vực biển hoàn toàn thuộc quyền chủ quyền và quyền tài phán của Việt Nam được xác lập phù hợp với luật pháp quốc tế, trong đó có Công ước của Liên hợp quốc về Luật Biển năm 1982 (UNCLOS). Vietnam stopped a company from exploring for energy in contested waters of the South China Sea after taking threats from Beijing, the BBC reported early on Monday.
Talisman-Vietnam, a subsidiary of Spanish energy firm Repsol, commenced gas-drilling operations in an area about 400 kilometers off Vietnam’s coast earlier this month, but Hanoi has since ordered Repsol to leave the zone, the BBC said, citing an unnamed source.

New missile shelters, radar/communications facilities, and other infrastructure are going in on Fiery Cross, Mischief, and Subi Reefs, suggesting that while the region is engaged in peaceful discussion, China remains committed to developing its power projection capabilities.

Nhưng nay khắp địa cầu, ngư dân than rằng, họ thường phải kéo lên những tấm lưới rỗng. “Ngày xưa lưới đầy cá, có khi không kéo lên thuyền nổi”, ông Mamadou So, 52 tuổi, ở Senegal miền Tây châu Phi buồn bã chỉ vào mớ cá tí hon trong khoang thuyền. Ở bên kia địa cầu, ông Zhu Delong, một lão ngư dân Trung Quốc (TQ) 75 tuổi, cũng lắc đầu thất vọng khi mẻ lưới của ông chỉ vớt lên được một ít tôm non và cá vụn. “Khi tôi còn bé, chỉ cần giăng câu sau nhà là đã bắt được cá to. Bây giờ thì biển đã trống rỗng”, ông Zhu nói.

Vietnam resolutely opposes China’s Taiwan conducting a number of live-fire exercises in the waters area around Ba Binh island, which belongs to Vietnam’s Truong Sa archipelago.

Spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry Le Thi Thu Hang made the assertion on May 26 in reply to reporters’ query on Vietnam’s reaction to the Taiwanese action.
“Vietnam has full historical evidence and legal grounds to prove its sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spartly) archipelagos,” she said.
Taiwan’s organisation of drills in Ba Binh area in Vietnam’s Truong Sa archipelago is a serious violation of Vietnam’s sovereignty over the archipelago, threatening peace, stability, security, and safety of navigation, as well as causing tensions and complicating the situation in the East Sea, she added.
“Once again, Vietnam resolutely opposes and demands Taiwan to not repeat similar activities,” she stressed.

Doha, Qatar — The Philippines must “act fast” in occupying its islands in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) before it loses them to other claimants, President Duterte said last Saturday in his talk at a Philippine-Qatar business forum here.
“With the movement of people there occupying the lands, I ordered my military to occupy the remaining 10 islands which are not inhabited, place our flag there, put some structures,” Duterte said in his remarks.
